Mai พะโลั

What is พะโลั ?

I was on the way to Penang this morning and dad decided we should stop over Kampar for his favourite Char Keow Tiao @ one coffee shop in Kampar that we visited on our last trip.

Unfortunately the Char Keow Tiao no open today. So, we have no choice but gets something else to eat. I turned and saw this พะโลั  on the menu... so i decided to place a order. This is the bowl of so called พะโลั

I snapped a picture and sent a copy to my friend in Thailand and guess what he came back with... "mai (in thai means Not) พะโลั na kub"... Oops~ he said " I think this is Kuay Jubb na kub".

So, i google and found out there is one youtube video teaching on how to make พะโลั

My next trip to Thailand... i must to try พะโลั na kub.

Sembawang White Bee Hoon Restaurant @ Singapore

Believe or Not people just queue up for food in Singapore. One of my friend queued up 2 hours just to have this...

叉烧饱
Cha Siew Pau

When she told me, I was like... why? I still can't believe people will queue up 2 hours for a 饱 ...

Another friend of mine told me this Sembawang White Bee Hoon Restaurant also need to queue for 2-3 hours... My first reaction was I can skip it... No way i will queue for food. It's really pack if you see the picture that adapted from Juicyfingers

Picture from Juicyfingers
Guess what? My friend bought me to taste this White Bee Hoon in this restaurant last Sunday. Of course it was not as pack as what the picture shown in Juicyfingers blog. Otherwise, you will not see me eating in the shop. Neither do my friend who also no patient to wait for food.

Hazy day, Singaporean chosen not to go out. Blast aircon to get rid of the burning smell. Maybe this is one of the reason why this restaurant lost its SIGNATURE... QUEUE~

The food is very nice and i don't mind to pay a visit in the future.

Sukishi - All you can eat shabu-shabu

Sukishi - All you can eat Shabu-Shabu

A sister company of Sukiya, Sukishi - An all you can eat Shabu Shabu restaurant with a view...

The view

Why the restaurant not name Sukiya and have to be named Sukishi? The scene behind is Sukishi was  established to serve a different group of customers~  A group that eats...

Beef, Pork or Chicken
So the answer is they serve PORKY... So certain group is not able to pay a visit and eat there. You know what i meant eh~

Porky
The Soup

My colleague has decided to resign and leave for better opportunity. We threw her a farewell luncheon last Friday. It was a nice all you can eat porky shabu-shabu lunch @ Sukishi IOI Mall. I kind of like the Sukishi setup ;-)

Nihon Mura Express @ Cathay Leisure - Singapore

Sushi feast for SGD1.50 per plate in Nihon Mura Express has drawn the attention of my friends and I to eat like a gluttony ;-) As the conveyor belt moving... our eyes were moving to the dish we wanna to pick up...

Conveyor belt
As many many plates passed us but we didn't see the Sake Sashimi (Raw Salmon). So we ordered from the staff 4 plates of Sake Sashimi. They combined the 4 plates into one.

Sake Sashimi
We ate many more different dishes... Chawamushi... Miso Soup etc... So, the tower was in progress when i snapshot this...

One tower was coming up
As time passed... the stack of empty dishes were coming up... We reached a point that we could not eat anymore. That's it. Let me introduce the Twin Tower...

So can anyone guess how much is the total bill?

Visitors from Singapore

Two friends of mine from Singapore were in Kuala Lumpur last weekend. They flown in on Friday evening. I went to airport to pick them up.

Day #1 - Airport --> Moon Bar --> Friends' place

Another mutual friend of us has arranged to meet us at the Moon Bar @ Damansara Height. There was a jazz night. This bar served pork... pork burgers, roasted pork with bacon and so on... Yum Yum~
The jazz was very nice until we lost track of time and stayed until 2am in the morning... Over night at my friends' condominium.

Day #2 - Imbi road Pork Noodles --> Brew & Bread Cafe --> Klang Bak Kut Teh --> Fish Spa Master --> Mcdonalds --> Pandamaran Seafood --> Bonjour Cafe --> Friends' place

We woke up at 9 something, got ready and went over to Kota Kemuning for Imbi Road Pork Noodles. Not sure what is good about this pork noodles until so many queue up for the table. Luckily, their preparation and serving are quite swiftly.

Brew and Bread is just behind the Imbi Road Pork Noodles house which it's a good choice for a nice cup of coffee especially they served illy brand coffee. We have ordered 2 pieces of cakes (carrot and chocolate walnut) for sharing... cakes goes well with coffee eh~

Singaporean claimed Bak Kut Teh started from Singapore. This has made all my Klang friends so pissed. Anyway, no one can change the fact that Bak Kut Teh is originated from Klang. Do you see the yummy Bak Kut swimming in inside a pot of herbal soup? Tsk Tsk Tsk... I'm having a crave for Bak Kut Teh now. :(

First ever experience to pamper my feet for a Fish Spa @ Aeon Bukit Tinggi. In the beginning, I was so reluctant to put my feet into the water. Maybe it's a sign of fear on what would happen to my feet. Slowly after i connected with the little fishes... I felt a bit comfortable and slowly i placed my feet into the water and stay still for the fishes to have their meal.

The whole process was so ticklish and i was trying not to laugh throughout the whole session. After the spa, we dropped by McDonald for ice cream while waiting for the other friend to arrive. She was joining us for dinner

Dinner was in one of the old and famous Seafood Restaurant @ Pandamaran Port Klang. Do you see the Crab Roe? i bet you are drooling right now. We also ordered couple more seafood. Anyway, it was a very enjoyable meal as the 5 of us whom spent the Overloaded Food weekend in Malacca 1 2 gathered again in Klang for Seafood. We left Klang back to Kota Damansara after dinner since the Tong Sui at Klang required to wait for at least an hour.

My friend suggested to pay a visit to the Bonjour Cafe @ Sunway Damansara. This cafe looks porch but the service was not up to where they tried to position themselves. I'm not sure whether the coffee is nice or not as i drank tea. We were saying No Booze Just Tea! night but we ended buying the Calsburg Special Brew and went back to my friend's place to drink :p

Day #3 Batu Cave --> Yut Kee --> KLCC park --> IMAX 3D @ 1U --> Airport

Early bird got the worm... Believe it or not? We got the worm... We don't need to pay for the carpark, we managed to see the prayer in the main temple up the cave and we managed to avoid buses of tourist to Batu Cave.

All three of my friends who never visited Batu Cave. This cave was new to them. Batu Cave has welcomed its tourist with a 273 steps for climbing to the main temple ;-) Guess what? we finished the whole cave within 1.5 hrs. I learn something new and witness the offering on 8:30am at the main temple up the cave.

Yut Kee has been in KL since 1928. This is a old nanyang style cafe which served Hainanese pork chop. They are famous for its pork chop. My Singaporean friend really amaze and like the taste of the pork chop. she never tasted this kind of pork chop which is different from the western pork chop.

We are requested by the owner to share the table with 2 others customers whom we don't know each other. This is a common practice in Yut Kee Restaurant. So don't be surprise you are being asked to share. Sharing is Caring eh~

You can captured the image of the Twin Tower from different corner of KL city but do you ever go at the bottom of the twin tower and look up? So how is the view like?...

I bought the visitors to KLCC park after our breakfast. We walked about an hour and heading back to my friend's place to freshen up and heading to One Utama for Pacific Rim in IMAX 3D.

After the movie, we sat down and chill before heading to the airport. That's all folks, till then stay tune for another venture of my coming weekend. This round no more valley but it will be an island *wink

On visiting Kanching Waterfall

One of my friend invited me to join his team of friends whom likes the outdoor. I'm not that much of an outdoor person especially jungle trekking with all the leeches. This round my friend told me there is no leeches and it's a very simple hike. Yay Yay~

Saturday morning, I drove over to my friend place, parked my car and hopped on to his car. We went for Dim Sum brekkie @ Selayang before heading over to Kanching Waterfall.

Where is Kanching Waterfall? Kanching Waterfall located near Templar park. It's a natural reserve park between Templar and Rawang. The waterfall has divided into multiple levels. The well maintained levels are from level 1~4. I managed to go up to level 5 which unfortunately was not even maintained... the gazebo near the level 5 waterfall has collapsed.

We decided to stayed in Level 4 which is we could have the whole waterfall by ourselves.

@ Level 4
@ Level 4, water flowing down to Level 3
@Level4, Sun shining...
Zoom-in on waterfall @Level4
Sneak view of  level3 from the top
Waterfall @ Level3 - A man made pool for swim
Level 2
After spending 2 hours plus sitting by the waterfall since i didn't want to swim. We ended our outing with a fishy lunch at Lan Je. Order 3 type of African fish (the black one) dishes. The same type of African fish that i had in Uganda Africa. But the fish texture was not as good as in Uganda as it was sweet and chewy over there but not in Lan Je. Rare vs Wild...

Japanese Meal day with the Minions

No!!!... Nothing special in Japan nor any Japan/Japanese related special day. It's the day i had Japanese Food. My friend and I having Japanese Meals for Lunch and Dinner. So today we declared our day as Japanese Day.

@11:00, Pick up my friend from his place to have lunch @ Paradigm Mall... I was wearing a bumblebee glass imported from Singapore. How's it? Cool?

TZ on Bumblebee Glass... Cool Eh~

@11:45, we walked in to Miraku Paradigm Mall... My friend saw the Sunday Buffet advertisement long time back when we came out from Fitness First Paradigm. Good strategy to attract hungry and tired gym goer after they have their hard workout. The served different type of sashimi and sushi... also those type of non raw japanese food. It's quite authentic... but the price is a bit high for a simple Japanese buffet.

Japanese Buffet @ Miraku, Paradigm Mall

@14:00, meeting another friends to watch Despicable Me 2. Watching those cute little yellowish Minions... but it turns purple in the middle of the movies :p Yellow vs Purple, which one you like? Oops i better stop here otherwise sure got people scold me for being a spoiler. *mouth zip*

Despicable Me 2

@16:00, after the movie... chill in Pacific Coffee @ UG paradigm mall. The outlet was full of people but we were lucky to grab a nice sofa seat by the windows. Catching up with my two fellow buddies. This is a very enjoyable moments to chit chat about work, things outside work etc...

@18:00, decided to have a early dinner before sending my friend to the airport. We had Ramen @ Goku Raku, Paradigm. The Ramen was quite nice, since we had a heavy lunch, we chose to have a small Ramen. Yummy~

@20:30, stopped by McD @ Taman Warisan Salak Tinggi hoping to get the three little minions... guess what? it's a disappointed moment to see the word "SOLD OUT" stick on top of the three minions. Operasi Mencari Minions FAILED again. Sigh~

Totally SOLD OUT on the three minions

Anyway, my day ended when i reached home safely and took a nice shower~

Food overloaded... #Malacca - Part #1

I made a trip down to Malacca with a bunch of friends... We were targeting the food in Malacca. Reached Malacca at about 1:30pm and straightaway check-into Aldy Malacca. Dumped the bag and headed out to search for food. (everyone was so soooo hungry)

@Jonker 88 - we had Cendol, Nyonya Laksa and Lok bak. I forgot to take a shot on Nyonya Laksa + Lok Bak as i was so hungry and attacked like a hungry man.

Can you differentiate which one have durian which one not?

Dim Sim @ Jonker Street - This aunty has been selling Siu Mai over the years in Jonker street. Her Siu Mai is very popular as she sells RM3 for 5 Siu Mai...

which type of Siu Mai you like?
@Xiang Ji Pork Satay - Next stop after Jonker 88, pork satay @ Jalan Portugis. On the way to the satay place, there were one local uncle whom sat under the tree and asked my friend " The satay nice to eat meh? First time r?" My friend answer "don't know ler...first time"... Lesson learned, if next time a local ask you this question. You should reconsider to go ahead. Why i say so? Cause the satay is just so so only...

Satay is a bit dry
Walking under the sun from one place to another place was not really fun... so we decided to stop over some cool place i.e. Alfresco by the rivers to chill... We went into @Lao San Cafe

Lao San Cafe is famous for its Cendol - We only knew that after our visit. Those people whom visited Lao San Cafe and tasted its Cendol has given *two thumbs and two legs up* including me... It's very delicious. Not sure their chicken wings but the spring rolls was NOT really nice.

Cendol by the river... Luckily no additional fragrance
@Aunty Lee, Ujong Pasir - rate 2/5 (Lousy Service, Normal food, pricy)
Recommended by a friend friend of mine whose hometown is in Malacca and now staying in Singapore. We are only allow to make reservation after 8pm. Moreover, when making reservation, we need to order the dishes too... Sigh~ The dishes were cold when we arrived. My friend whom owns a kitchen even said, he could cook better than this restaurant. Looking forward to taste my friend's nyonya dishes ;-)

Four dishes (size small) and rice + drink = RM94 (5pax)
After the dinner @ Aunty Lee, we headed to Jonker Street Night Market for a walk. Luckily the hu-haa has temporary placed aside and the Jonker Street Night Market opened their business as usual...

We were not managed to get into Hard Rock Cafe, we decided to buy some beer and have them in our room as we have a family mini suites which has table and chair for 5 pax. We bought chips and Carlsburg Special Brew as our booze. So we boozing away...  and called it a day when all of us got HIGH...

Stay tune for Food overloaded... #Malacca - Part #2 eh~

My Birthday on Lunar Calendar...

I was born on the eight day of Chinese New Year... And for Hokkien, the eight day is a very important day. Yesterday was the 8th day of CNY. I woke up as early as 8am... And lazying on the bed until 9 something...

Since sister wanted to eat Bah Kut Teh (BKT). We decided to pay a visit to my cousin place in Shah Alam. My nephew brought us to the BKT @ bukit Raja Klang area. Near the i-city area.

The Kitchen - like a manufacturing
The Food
The BKT is nice but the service is extremely lousy... bad management, the staff doesn't even smile and very rude to their customers. So i would not recommend this place although the food is nice. BTW, the restaurant name is Teluk Pulai Bak Kut Teh...

After the BKT, we went to NSK a huge hypermarket (this will be another post - stay tune). Mom just bought a couple of vegetables and we left the place.

I gotta have another eating session at night after sending my parent to a Wedding Anniversary function @ Jaya 33. My sister, Bro-in-law and I met up my aunty for dinner. We pop over to the NEW PARIS. I bet whoever stay in klang valley should know this restaurant...

The Crowded Restaurant
So what we ate?

Lou Sang - Huat ar :p

Year Year Got Fish
This year we didn't celebrate the 8th days night event... So we picked up my parent from Jaya 33 and headed back home and sleep. That's my Lunar Calendar Birthday :)

Wei Bu Toong Seafood Restaurant

Last Sunday, July 1st 2012 was my dad's birthday. Since dad is a birthday boy on that day... Mom and I asking dad to choose what he likes to have for either dinner or lunch.

At the end, dad chosen Wei Bu Toong Seafood Restaurant located near Kepong area... initially i don't know how to get there but with the help of Google Maps. I managed to find the way and brought my dad to the restaurant.

Dad's ordered three dishes and two big rice to share out...

Seafood Tofu
Vietnamese Style Prawn

Last but not least, the main purpose we went to the restaurant... Overall, the crabs are quite okay, only one crab was slightly not fresh...

Steam Crab
So, it's time to start the guessing game... How much does it cost for the meal, three dishes, two rice and a pot of tea, What do you think?
