TZ @ ambiguous period...

Reorganization, Restructuring, Re-mapping resources... are very common terminology in Multinational Companies. The more the workforce turns into global, the more political issues arose.  Due to the saving storm, most of the companies will keep restructuring and reorganizing until they reach the target or stay within the cost.

Guess what? I'm going to report to a different manager again after the restructuring of my team. Hurray~ This will be my 4th boss within 2.5 years with the company. Is it good or bad to me? Hmm... I think good is we get to have fresh start whenever there is a change but... Bad is obviously we need to re-adjust ourselves to new expectation from different boss. Style change again eh~. Sigh!

Anyway, whenever there is a restructuring/reorganizing... there will be an ambiguous period within the team. Lots of rumors are wondering around too. This colleague is going to resign, that colleague is looking for a better position outside the team (i.e. internal transfer). blah blah blah... So how true is that?

TZ is in the ambiguous period as he forced to leave the good manager whom he is reporting and could easily work well with . Now he has to start all over again to work out the expectation with the new boss... Good or bad?
when to say; where to start; what to expect; how to action; why?
LoL... this no longer on figuring where to visit shown in the picture above. It is the period on getting the 4W and 1H answered and plan out the right career path... :p

6 projects and 1 PM...

Do I enjoy my work in my new company?
My answer will be 937. (What is 937? Just use your phone keypad to find out.)

Why?... Hmmm... I felt satisfied when handle these projects. They gave me a moderate challenge at this moment given that I'm still new. Expectation is not as high yet. But moving forward I have anticipated more challenges with higher expectation from my boss and my co-workers.

Recently, a lot of my time has been invested into ramping up in my new job. I wanted to get up to speed to be able to be one generation ahead of the up coming actinides. Now, due to new to these projects.

Will I make it? Again I would say 937. I will definitly try my best to achieve them. At this moment, I will have to continue to invest my time...

Happy work week in ahead.
Enjoy your Sunday Eh~

who's fault?

Since TZ is assigned to this current project, TZ have sacrificed his gym time, his regular meal time, his time with his friends and worst case his weekends. What is the main reason of TZ loses all of these?

1. The sales team has committed an extremely aggressive timeline / schedule.
2. The team has a poor planning on resources allocation.
3. The customers do not have a good idea of what they wants.
4. The development team just do not have a clear picture of how much they need to deliver
5. Message was not convey clearly to the working level.
6. There are so many dependencies from external to the project.

Now, the impact has arisen. Everyone is so stress cause the deadline is approaching... Everyone is racing against time to cover the earlier lost. How much can we cover for the lost of time... What else can it be done with management and customers insist to stay with the deadline?

I was upset as i was assigned to this project with the expectation to fix this project which i don't think it could be fixed given the resources have already exhausted, the project manager is struggling to survive, customers are squeezing and the management is insisting with their decision.

So what else can i do?

Snooping on an interesting interview

March 20th 2010 13:00 : I am sitting in a coffee place having my lunch at the same time writing this entry... In parallel, there is an interviewing going on the next table. I am snooping into their conversation because it's very interesting. I'm analyzing and observing how the interview going on... Hmmm... I have the feeling the interviewee might not get this job... She is very calm but she just don't have the correct mindset or she's too direct/honest.

She actually interview for a regional position. The interviewer is very smart and know what he wants... his questions are very objective, direct and crisp... If i have a chance to talk to the interviewer, I would like to do so...

Okie, let's snoop into what the interviewee has communicated out...
  1. She complained about her colleagues.
  2. She complained about her current boss and claimed that her boss is married without children due to too focus on his job.
  3. She kept stress on she wanted the work life balance. Her most top priority is family.
  4. She said that the current company sucks because of too many paper work. she was grounded in the office.
  5. She could not stand the stress within her workplace.
  6. She stressed on her preference for not wanted to travel that much due to family... How could a sales person not traveling. Tell me a good method to close a deal without travel. Anyone?
  7. She said that she handle P&L but she could not recall what is the main elements in the P&L. Surprisingly she was explaining to the interviewer now.
So if you are the interviewer, will you hire her?

I would like to wish her all the best to her interview... She should have already know what would be the turn out... If she got hired, i think the interviewer might have a click with her personality or something else...

Anyway, sometime i think for each of the interview we gone through ... sometime really depends on our luck and whether we could click with the hiring manager. My track records were broken last year before this every interview i gone through I got hired on the spot. This no longer happened to me... *sob sob*

All the best to the lady who are still interviewing now. I hope you got the job that you are looking forward to ...

Disappointed

I just got back from office 1am in the morning... Now i could hardly sleep, not because stress... because i have passed my sleepy time... :(

So, I decided to rant a bit on my disappointment of the job i have currently. Initially i take this assignment as the challenging assignment coz i have the opportunities to proof to turn around a project. If you know me well, you will know that i like challenging assignment. So when i took up this assignment, i was trying my best to improve and support the other support over the other country. I always tell myself that i want to turn this project around.

Two hours ago, i finally got disappointed, my engineer and i were trying so hard to make sure everything were in place and provided support to our support person on the other country. We sacrificed our personal time stayed up late in the office and i sacrificed my gym and dining with my parents and also my time with my fellow friends @ YUEN... not to mention my fellow reader of my blog. Just trying to impress the end customers.

Just one single email... he sent out just an email. That's it... destroyed the whole month afford to be in par of getting the end customers confident. We need to start all over again... If you get this kind of people, were you feel disappointed?... Never consult the team, Never think before action, Never do some research... and make decision to go on. Even better, this support guy thinks that he is Rimbo... He never have sufficient bullets and just hit the battle fields started shooting to all the people. At the end, we died together. So is this disappointed or what?

Sigh~ sigh~ sigh~~~~~ all the effort just wasted. I think maybe i should think of getting another job which is better pay, better prospect and better environment :p

12 x 2 = 24

I was working 12 hours a day for Thursday and Friday last week... supporting the Middle East team. I missed so many gym session and had to bare with hungry stomach for that two days coz i basically skipped dinner... Very sad that I got nothing out of the two days, not even a pat on the shoulder from my boss.. Is this worth or not?

Anyway, i shouldn't be ranting so much about my job. Hope if i'm not bore all of you. If i don't rant i might be feeling better, rite? Okie maybe i should stop talking about my job and bring all of you more pictures that i took. :)

Can i have this post dedicated to my lovely job? Errrr...

Inside my contract the working hour was stated 9am-6pm Monday-Friday. I'm currently doing support job and luckily my boss allow us to go in to the office in a flexible hour. So, nowadays i go in office at about 9:30 - 10am. But what time i come out from the office... Errrr... really depends on that day itself... whether there is any issue or not ... most of the time it has so much issues that forced me to stay back to ensure everything is as per expected... So i missed my gym and my dinner too. Sigh~

I'm currently in the mid of planning to make a change on how things being handled. Hopefully i could fix some of the hiccup due to communication and working culture. Let's hope i could get back my quality life soon... Ciao!

Money Money Money ...

I came across a question @ pre-interview or during the interview for a job position. This question is a Frequent Asked Question... "What are your selection criterias for a job?" So what would you answer for this question?

According to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, most of the working force are looking at Monetary Compensation as the most important job selection criteria.

Is Money that important as a criteria? What would you get if you lose the job without gaining any experience and knowledge... how would you survive in the future?

I usually looking at the balance between job enhancement and monetary compensation... So my top job criteria is not mainly focus on $$$$... I look for those job that could provide me high potential growth on my job career. Second criteria would be the environment, culture of the company. Of cause Money is also one of the criteria but it's not the top most... :p

So what would your job selection criteria?

PS: Hehehe... if you listen to the song Money Money Money by Abba... there's an easy way out... yup! married a rich person ... kakakaka :p

Today in History - September 16th

Is it a lucky day for TZ or what? As everyone knew that I was waiting for a call from all the companies that i have my resume deposit into... unfortunately TZ's phone was so quiet until this afternoon... TZ was down for the past weeks. Thanks to all my friends around me who supported me move on day by day.

So what happened on September 16th today in TZ's book of history... hehehe... back in 1996, i started my first job in a MNC company... i got hired straight after a walk-in-interview. My start date was 091696 or 160996. Anyone wanna to buy 4 digits? here u go the number 0916 or 1609 :p

Hehehe...  this afternoon it happened again ... I got a call from one of the company that i submitted my resume in this morning... wow! so efficient...  although it's a short conversation between us but it's a good conversation. I think i would stand a chance to get this job as they need some experiences that i have obtained from my work in my previous company... I hope i could start to go back to the Corporate World on Oct 2009... Here i come again my working life... *clap clap* Blek~

Next exam : CSCP

I just passed my SAP ABAP certification examination... so now I was so eager to pursue another examination which i have postponed since June 2008. When is the exam? December 2009. Three months from now. I would need to start my studies immediately since there are 4 very thick material to cover. Will need to answer 120 questions in 3 hours if i'm not mistaken which covered the whole Supply Chain (End-to-End).

What is CSCP? CSCP stands for Certified Supply Chain Professional. A truly end-to-end view of the supply chain. From manufacturing to service, in business and consumer markets, the increasingly important role of effective supply chain management affects all organizations.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to get this certification so i could move up the value chain ... and have better paid job...

SAP + CSCP = Good Pay?

how i wish... blek~  TZ need to stay now... Study again eh~

Study starts : September 03rd 2009
Exam date : December 12th 2009

Cut Cut Cut ....

I cut down my expenses few months back...
I cut down my time on updating my blog since 5 weeks ago...
I cut down my social networking too (errr... delay all the yamcha sessions) ...
I cut down my gym for the past two weeks - din go gym everyday :'( ...
I cut down my time for going around reading people blog, only selective blog i read...
I cut down on MSN or i would say seldom MSN.... Only MSN during my break

Why?

I need to focus on my up coming exam... this is real important for me to send my crappy career away in exchange of a new start on my career... so this is a deal or no deal kind of exam to step into a new and different environment. This is what i wanted long long time ago but too stingy to pay RM30K or i should say i don't have so much to pay for the most expensive course that i have taken so far... :p

Anyway, the course is over but the exam is coming ... another 14 days to go... i'm in stress now as there are near to 1,500 pages of material to study and about thousands practise questions to work on... where should i start ?... Ok... i need to stay focus on my study...

Can you see the word i meant i need to do in the graphic above ... ?

Busy attending SAP ABAP training

I'm in the SAP ABAP training since Monday.... I woke up early in the morning @ about 6 something just to beat the traffic... the journey from my place to Technology Park Malaysia (TPM) is about an hour with the morning traffic. I need to buffer for 15 mins walk from the carpark to the main building. So, it's as good as going to work eh!

BTW, the training starts @ 9am and ends @ 5-5:30pm with only an hour lunch. So, is this working hours or what? Anyway, i'm glad i enroll to this training... It's a good training for my future career. hehehe....

I would not be able to update my blog as frequent as what i did... this training required me to spend about 4 hours a day for reading and assignment outside the class...  which i only did 1~2 hours ... sigh~ sigh~ sigh~

Okie, gotta go now.... have to get ready to go for my 3rd day of training... cheers! :)

Looked back on March 31st 2008....

One year ago today was my last day in a big corporation... It's 1 year anniversary... I still remember the bitter sweet moment of my life ... At that time, i was excited to get the change... When i looked back on the moment... It's a big changeIt was a big change which i became freelancer than a permanent job holder... Is being a freelancer fun? Errrrr.... not really... :p

It was a moment that i missed my office so much after my 8 years... I was a bit emo over the office and my colleagues... so i blogged about my feeling via Goodbye my dear office. This was how playful we were in our office ...

The company treated us a very nice farewell lunch... we had our buffet lunch @ Cyberview lodge and we took a nice team photo that would gave us lots of good memories now.. I missed all my ex-colleagues. (Beginning of a New Chapter) *Sob Sob*

The organizing committee also organized a finale party @ Borneo rainforest cafe - Sunway... I was drunk (was still able to walk but not drive) and fortunately i was not driving on that night ... My ex-colleague drove me back and i spent a night in his place ...

Today is March 31st 2009... all of the bitter sweet moment was just like yesterday... time really flies....

TO ALL MY EX-COLLEAGUE...
ALL THE BEST TO YOUR NEW JOB EH!

CSCP exam got postponed...

I postponed my CSCP exam this morning after i got the answer from my potential employer. I was going to accept the contracted work in Uganda Africa. There will be a 20 months contract job, once i settled all the stuff, i will be leaving Malaysia for Uganda.

I felt excited but also a little bit rush. Things just came so sudden and i was not well prepared yet. Anyway, let's see how the things flow.
