Porter Value Chain vs Porter 5 forces...

Both are tools to evaluate company strength and weakness... True or False?

The Porter Value Chain evaluates the strength and weakness within the company value chain including the supply chain of the company and its infrastructure. This is more on looking from a single company.

The Porter 5 forces analyzed the strength and weakness of the company from the Industry perspective. This covers the comparison among competitors and have the holistic view of where the company stands within its own industry.

By using these two tools, we could analyze how competitive the company is to its surrounding as well as how strong is the company internally...

So, what is Porter Value Chain?  What is Porter 5 Forces?

Sumsung Galaxy S3

Few years back, people lined up for phone starts with "i"... today people line up for "s"... what next? Maybe they line up for phone start with "tz"... muhahaha...

My friend gotten the Galaxy S3 on last Sunday and he straightaway signed 2 years contract with Maxis... Wow~ Now the market shifting towards Samsung. I bought my Samsung Galaxy Notes last February and i'm happy with it... guess what? It's very common nowadays...

The latest Galaxy S3
Last Monday, i went out with this friend of mine and we popped into the latest TGIF outlet in Paradigm. Understand from the bartender, the outlet in Paradigm is the smallest outlet... but this is very cozy though. We have a quick chat and the bartender offered to make us his signature drinks aka Green Dinosaur.

Later, the other to be bartender helped to take this pictures with my friend's latest Galaxy S3...

Having the bartender signature drink - Green Dinosour
You must be wondering why the picture was not sharp but a bit blur... The blur picture was NOT because of the Sumsung Galaxy S3 feature, this was because the new Galaxy S3 was covered with a piece of plastic, and there was another layer on the camera. So the picture looked so blur... sigh~

Anyway, after seeing the first hand of the Sumsung Galaxy S3... I think this phone is a good buy compare to iPhone 4s. What do you think?

Kickass Coffee @ Bad Ass Coffee...

Medie007 and I went for dinner last night @ Tropicana City Mall. After dinner we decided to chillout @ a coffee place... when we walked around the mall, we came across the Bad Ass Coffee place... Looking @ the interesting menu in front of this weird name cafe. The development director Suki approached us and explained what food and coffee they served. So we decided to walk around and get back to the place later.

After walking for a while, we decided to give Bad Ass Coffee a try...

Inside Bad Ass Coffee place

Ice Jitter juice (ice is made out of coffee)

The Bad Ass coffee has 7 different signature drink which i chosen my usual favorite and hardly available in Malaysia i.e. Coffee with Irish Cream. They called this coffee Jitter Juice. BTW, there are 6 more drinks for me to try in my few visits.

By now, I bet all of you must be wondered why the coffee place name Bad Ass... hehehe... I just snapshots the coffee cup as there is a story behind...

Bad Ass story

Cam whoring with Bad Ass Coffee

Hey that's it folks... Just go ahead and pay a visit and check it out, taste and experience the kickass** Bad Ass Coffee... hmmm... btw they also serve food but because of we had our dinner earlier... we gotta skipped the food. The Bad Ass coffee is definitely better than the coffee from my favorite Starbie and Coffee Bean... I think i would visit Bad Ass coffee if there is a choice of Starbie, Coffee Bean and Bad Ass... Oldtown is definitely out of the list ... blek~

** kickass in north america slang means very good, excellent; COOL, AWESOME. (source from onlineslangdictionary.com)

New Apple iPhone - 3G included

Finally the new Apple iPhone 3G is out in US... and it's USD199 for 8GB and USD299 for 16GB. Anyone is traveling to US soon? Can help to get one ah :->

So what is the difference from the old iPhone?
* Apple claims that the new 3G connection will be roughly 2.8 times as fast as the Edge wireless connection on the original iPhone.
* The iPhone 3G will also feature support for GPS hardware, a curved all-plastic backing and a flush headphone jack rather than the recessed jack that limited accessory options with the original iPhone.
* Apple plans to drop the price on the 16GB iPhone 3G to $299, while the 8GB iPhone will cost $199, roughly one third of the price for the handset on its release last June.

Lunch with my ex-colleague, Mel

(Dated : Oct 16th 2007 - Tuesday)

My colleague, Corine has suggested and planned to have lunch with our ex-colleague Melanie. Since our has given us Tuesday off... we decided to make a trip to downtown KL.

I sent my car for service early morning and decided to explore on taking a bus to KLCC (Petronas Twin Tower) from Taman Maluri. Taking public transport always is a challenge for a person like me which my last bus ride was back in 1990s... and the bus system in Kuala Lumpur (Rapid KL) has changed so much that i don't even know which route is to what destination... So, i made up my mind and decided to go ahead to learn something new by exploring the new bus system in Kuala Lumpur... so confident eh!

Anyway, I managed to walked over to the Light Rail Train station and looked at the bus route board. To my surprised, the public transport in Kuala Lumpur has improved with lots of accurate route information. After understand the route, I hopped up to bus# B114... which i had the confident that this bus would brought me directly to KLCC. Bingo! I hit the jackpot and the bus brought me to my destination... :-p I learnt something new... I popped in Isetan for some shopping.

Walked over from KLCC to Ampang train station to meet up Corine. Met Corine and we walked over to Megan Avenue just behind OSK building. We had planned to meet for lunch @ Bee Bakery. As usual, chit chat over lunch and catch up with what has left off after Mel left the company. Spent about 1 hour + for lunch and Mel went back to work and we left the place. Corine and I walked over to KLCC and shopped for a while before we hit back home.

Corine, Mel and me

I took the Rapid KL bus (B114) back to Taman Maluri and picked up my car from the service center, then headed home. Some pictures that i took along the way back from KLCC to Taman Maluri.

What a nice and relax day i had especially some catching up with my ex-colleague during lunch.

Oxidative Stress

Hey what is this? Is it a type of stress?

I have no idea until my friend Sbanboy asking me whether i would like to attend a 2 hours talk in Sime Darby Convention Centre this afternoon. There was a talk from well known Nutrition Doctor Dr Ray Strand. He wrote couple of books...

So what is Oxidative Stress? According to Wikipedia...

Oxidative stress is caused by an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen and a biological system's ability to readily detoxify the reactive intermediates or easily repair the resulting damage. All forms of life maintain a reducing environment within their cells. This reducing environment is preserved by enzymes that maintain the reduced state through a constant input of metabolic energy. Disturbances in this normal redox state can cause toxic effects through the production of peroxides and free radicals that damage all components of the cell, including proteins, lipids, and DNA.

I'm so interested to find out more about Oxidative Stress and found some interesting sites which provide me more about Oxidative stress and its prevention method Antioxidants fruits and vegetables. Here you go some useful URL

Anyway, it was a eye opener for me and learnt more about medical term... Would like to thanks Sbanboy and his friend for helping to get the ticket for this talk.
