Treats and Tricks

What are you doing in Halloween night?

I'm going to have dinner with my friend in Queensbay Mall shortly. Waiting for her to turn up... i'm now in Starbucks (my usual hang out place to update my blog :-p ). What is your plan?

Have you been to a crazy halloween party with all those food with disgusting look and description... here you go some common halloween food... yucky and gross!

Warning! do not eat while reading my blog eh! I will not be responsible for any vomiting occurred :-p

Kitty Litter Cake
1 spice or German chocolate cake mix
1 white cake mix
1 large pkg vanilla instant pudding mix
1 pkg vanilla sandwich cookiesGreen food coloring
12 small Tootsie Rolls
1 new (and definitely unused) kitty litter pan
1 new plastic kitty litter pan liner
1 new Pooper ScooperPrepare cake mixes and bake according to directions (any size pans).

Prepare pudding mix and chill until ready to assemble. Crumble white sandwich cookies in small batches in food processor, scraping often. Set aside all but about 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup cookie crumbs, add a few drops green food coloring and mix using 5. When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble into a large bowl. Toss with half the remaining white cookie crumbs and the chilled pudding. (Mix in just enough of the pudding to moisten it. You don't want it soggy. Combine gently). Line new, clean kitty litter box. Put mixture into litter box. Put three unwrapped Tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until soft and pliable. Shape ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly. Repeat with 3 more Tootsie rolls and bury in mixture. Sprinkle the other half of cookie crumbs over top. Scatter the green cookie crumbs lightly over the top. (This is supposed to look like the chlorophyll in kitty litter.) Heat 3 Tootsie Rolls in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake; sprinkle with cookie crumbs. Spread remaining Tootsie Rolls over the top; take one and heat until pliable, hang it over the side of the kitty litter box, sprinkling it lightly with cookie crumbs. Place the box on a newspaper and sprinkle a few of the cookie crumbs around.

If you have kitten... make sure the kitten stay away from this ... otherwise ... :-p

Vampire Kiss Martini
1 part vodka, chilled
1 part Champagne
1 part Chambord Garnish with wax teeth/candy corn/blood orange slice

Pour vodka in a martini glass, top with Champagne and pour a little of the Chambord over the back of a spoon to make it float.

Someone just drop his/her teeth :-p

Good Morning Penang!

I like to stay in downtown Penang and don't mind to travel to Kulim for business. That's the reason why i drove to Penang instead of fly. Although fly is nice but i don't have the flexibility to go around Penang.

Last Monday when i go over to Kulim, i took a couple of picture from the ferry. I usually use ferry to commute over to the mainland and continue the journey to Kulim. The total journey from downtown Penang to Kulim is about 1 hour including the ferry.

New Friend from Chili's G-Hotel

I dropped by Chili's @ G-Hotel last Sunday. Since I'm alone, i just sat by the bar area which i don't want to wait for the table. At the same time, i prefered to sit by the bar as i could meet the bartender and have a chat with him or her. So, as usual i made the decision to sit by the bar on Sunday.

I was greet by this bartender in Chili's. He is very friendly and asking me whether what kind of drinks that i would like to start with. Guess what drink i started with? (Answer: Pres_ _ _ _ _ _ Margarita). And at the same time i ordered my favor " Old timer burger with Chili no cheese".

Then straightaway the bartender preparing my drinks and few minutes later my drink served. As the crowd were quite slow, the bartender was a little free... so i started the conversation with him and introduced myself. The bartender name is Mahen. He has worked in Pangkor Island Resort for 4 years and venture his business in KL. Then he decided to move on to Penang after a friend of him invited him to join Chili's Penang.

He is a very experience bartender and the drink that he made is awesome. To make the story short... i enjoying talking with him and he has made 2 others drinks i.e. Pina colada and long beach.

Pina Colada
3 oz light rum
3 tbsp coconut cream
3 tbsp crushed pineapples
Put all ingredients into an electric blender with 2 cups of crushed ice. Blend at a high speed for a short length of time. Strain into a collins glass and serve with a straw.

Long Beach
1 3/4 oz tequila
1 3/4 oz triple sec
1 3/4 oz rum
1 3/4 oz vodka
1 3/4 oz gin
fill with sweet and sour mix
1 splash cranberry juice

Combine all ingredients and pour over ice in a highball glass. Add the splash of Cranberry juice. Decorate with a slice of lemon and serve.

I left Chili's after my third drinks and called it a day... went back to hotel with some alcohol influence. I was so enjoying meeting this new friends while sipping the drinks that made by him... :-) Will visit Mahen before leaving for KL next week.

Nasi Ayam Periuk Besar ...

My colleague from Kulim brought me to a place for lunch after our meeting in the office yesterday. The restaurant is located in the mid of the palm oil plantation. If you are not a local @ Kulim, you would not know this place. The restaurant is called Nasi Ayam Periuk Besar. This is a very unique and special name as if i do translate into english it means big pot chicken rice.

This restaurant carries few variety of chicken in Malay style. We had three type of chicken with different type of rice too. From the tomoto rice to white rice. Basically, the place is a tropical cozy layout Malay style designed restaurant. I would recommend you to pay a visit to this restaurant if you have the opportunity to drop by Kulim. Visit the website for detail information.

On My Way to Office ...

I got this inspiration of filming my way to office from ebian. She recorded one evening when she going back from her work. I decided to try it out to record my way to the office. Unfortunately, my Camera run out of battery. So i only have this clip...

Lunch with my ex-colleague, Mel

(Dated : Oct 16th 2007 - Tuesday)

My colleague, Corine has suggested and planned to have lunch with our ex-colleague Melanie. Since our has given us Tuesday off... we decided to make a trip to downtown KL.

I sent my car for service early morning and decided to explore on taking a bus to KLCC (Petronas Twin Tower) from Taman Maluri. Taking public transport always is a challenge for a person like me which my last bus ride was back in 1990s... and the bus system in Kuala Lumpur (Rapid KL) has changed so much that i don't even know which route is to what destination... So, i made up my mind and decided to go ahead to learn something new by exploring the new bus system in Kuala Lumpur... so confident eh!

Anyway, I managed to walked over to the Light Rail Train station and looked at the bus route board. To my surprised, the public transport in Kuala Lumpur has improved with lots of accurate route information. After understand the route, I hopped up to bus# B114... which i had the confident that this bus would brought me directly to KLCC. Bingo! I hit the jackpot and the bus brought me to my destination... :-p I learnt something new... I popped in Isetan for some shopping.

Walked over from KLCC to Ampang train station to meet up Corine. Met Corine and we walked over to Megan Avenue just behind OSK building. We had planned to meet for lunch @ Bee Bakery. As usual, chit chat over lunch and catch up with what has left off after Mel left the company. Spent about 1 hour + for lunch and Mel went back to work and we left the place. Corine and I walked over to KLCC and shopped for a while before we hit back home.

Corine, Mel and me

I took the Rapid KL bus (B114) back to Taman Maluri and picked up my car from the service center, then headed home. Some pictures that i took along the way back from KLCC to Taman Maluri.

What a nice and relax day i had especially some catching up with my ex-colleague during lunch.

Fire Show @ Hippie Bar Phi Phi Island

Ian, Richard, Musa and I have our dinner @ Ton Sai Restaurant on the last night we were in Phi Phi island. We had nice seafood for dinner. I saw a nice lamp pole and took this picture ... what do you think?

After the dinner, we decided to hop over to the famous hippie bar for its fire show. On the way to the hippie bar, i captured this picture and video clip on Phi Phi town.

We reached Hippie Bar quite early as the fireshow haven't started yet. So there was this guy singing in the stage. He's a great singer too.

At about 11pm, the fireshow started and it was an awesome show. I would rate this as not to miss if you pull overnight in Phi Phi island. Two Thumbs up!

I enjoyed the fireshow and the Hippie Bar environment which i never been to a nice bar by the beach (so close to the sea side which the water is very near where we sit initially). Do visit the Hippie Bar @ Phi Phi Island. A must to go for its fireshow, you will not regret.

Day 5: Relaxing day @ Phi Phi Island

Woke up late on the last day in Phi Phi Island, Darrenzeger and I were so tired after a long day of snorkerling the day before... It was fun but extremely tired. I was so enjoying snorkeling and swimming. Never been swimming for couples of months but i was not bad as i could still swim to the shore and back to the boat :->

Ton Sai Bay

After breakfast, we went to download all the picture taken the day before to my IPod, then we headed to a small store for our lunch before heading to Long Beach. After the meal the sky suddenly turned into grey and seems like it was going to rain. We had made up our mind to continue to walk over the Long Beach direction. When we approached the junction... the rain has started, we ended up in a bar near the junction.

Raining @ Phi Phi - Overlooking Ton Sai Bay

Darrenzeger and I were enjoying Thai Shrimp Salad

When the rain stopped, we decided to just go back to the hotel to enjoy beer @ the pool side and did some swimming. The hotel has a big and nice pool...

Phi Phi Cabana Hotel Pool

This hotel has rebuilt and it's very new. This is because the Tsunami has destroy almost the whole building. As you could see the ruin that left over even after the reconstruction of the hotel. If you go down to the beach area you will see the Tsunami warning sign.

Trace of Tsunami even after hotel rebuilt - so sad

Warning sign in the tsunami hazard zone (both Phi Phi and Phuket)

At about 5pm, Ian, Richard (our two newly met friends this trip), Darrenzeger and I decided to walk up to the view point to catch the sunset. This was the 2nd time for Darrenzeger and I as went up to the view point the first day we arrived. It was a nice sunset. Ian and I took lots of pictures of the sunset and all of us enjoyed so much of the sunset @ Phi Phi...

Stay tune for Hanging out @ Hippie Bar + Fire show.

Non-working Monday feel like a Sunday...

Dad woke me up @ about 10:30am for "Bak Kut Teh" (Pork herbs soup with rice) for my brunch. I did not woke up when his 1st attempt. I have no choice but to response when he used mom's mobile to drop me a real call... :-p So, i was pulling my lazy body and hit the shower. I'm having a sore shoulder since two days ago, i might be overdoing on shoulder on last Wednesday bodypump class. Anyway, I decided to attend Ginny's Pilate class later @ about 1:45pm. Hopefully, she have some method to re-adjust back some sore shoulder muscle otherwise urgently need a masssage :-p

Anyway, i had a great lunch with my dad and mom in the Bak Kut Teh place near my condo. Sorry no picture taken this round as i forgot to bring along my camera. Will remember next time eh!...

Gotta get myself prepared and leave for the class soon. Sign off right now eh!... To all my Malaysian friends, do enjoy your last day of the long weekend but for me and my colleagues we do have another replacement day tomorrow. Don't jealous eh!... :-p

Day 4 : Snorkeling trip @ Phi Phi + Surrounding

The day before: There were lots of snorkeling package for us to choose on... I was not sure which one to choose from. After understand from Ian whom had been Phi Phi at least 4 times, it would be much more better to sign up with a bigger cruise instead of the Thai famous speed boat : longtail boat. So Darrenzeger and I decided to sign up with the Blue Skies Sea Canoe package which the boat they are using is those nice and bigger cruise type of boat. We signed up the package at about 550 baht / person and forgot to check out the weather. The package that we signed up includes Phi Phi Ley (Viking Cave, Maya Beach, Loh Samad Bay), Rantee Bay, Bamboo Island / Monkey island, Monkey Bay.

Darrenzeger and I woke up at about 7:30am and got ready for our breakfast. The hotel that we stayed provided nice and cool breakfast. It was the buffet breakfast. I did not eat too much as i just could take too much when i knew that i was going to board on a boat to go out for snorkeling (i have a high chances that i would have sea sick). Anyway, we waited for the tour @ the Phi Phi Pier. Managed to see those people leaving for Phuket and Krabi. Our cruise boat would only be able to approach the pier after the two giant passenger boat left the pier for its destination.

While waiting for the boat to be boarded. I took some video clip on the fishes near the pier.

At about 9:15am, we finally left Phi Phi island for Phi Phi Ley

Leaving Phi Phi Don Village

We started our journey with a clear and nice weather but when we reached our Viking Cave (first destination) the weather has changed to a cloudy and rainy.

Viking Cave - Bird Nest and Pre-historical painting

After passed by Viking Cave, we came to our first stop Loh Samad Bay / Maya Beach. This bay is where the hollywood filmed "The Beach". Do you still remember this movie? Leonardo Dicaprio sound familiar to you?

Loh Samad Bay @ Phi Phi Ley

Cave to Maya Beach ("The Beach")

Picture taken after came back from Maya Beach... Adventurous journey

Unfortunately, we were swimming over to the cave and walk over to Maya. So we could not bring along our camera with us. So no picture taking on Maya Beach. After visiting the Phi Phi Ley, our next stop was a bay on the other side of Phi Phi Don Village i.e. Rantee Bay follow by an island located north of Phi Phi Don i.e. Bamboo Island. Finally our last stop, Monkey Bay near Phi Phi Don (on the way back to Phi Phi Don village).

Rantee Bay - Lunch on the boat

Bamboo Island - nice seashell / dead coral
Monkey Bay - Last stop before hitting back to Phi Phi Don

A long and tired day after the snorkeling. It was a nice snorkeling trip and able to see lots of different fishes and nice live coral too. :->

Stay tune for Day 5 @ Phi Phi...
