2nd last day of 2014...

Finally, the missing AirAsia #QZ8501 found. And confirmed the flight has dropped into the sea.

On the other hand, I'm waiting to board a flight to down south, Singapore. Couple of my friends were asking me am i afraid to travel with AA, I told them if time comes it comes... why so worry. After a few events of disasters happen in year 2014. It triggered me to settle all my unsettle stuff as soon as possible so that it will not burden my family members if anything happen to me when i travel.

As a project manager, I always do a thorough contingency plan for my project but when come to my personal matter, I didn't have any plan... Hmmm... so my 2015 resolution is to do a contingency plan on what if I caught in the aviation disaster or anything happen to me...

What should I do and what my family need to do to claim whatever belongs to them which left behind by me.

Okay, i better stop here and enjoy myself the last 2 days of 2014. For the family of the victim #QZ8501, please stay strong eh~

Let's pray together for #QZ8501...

Busy months in ahead....

My 2nd last semester for MBA has resumed on Nov 29th 2014.
This semester I'm taking 3 modules. In other word, more sleepless night~
Each module has two assignments (individual and group) and two of the modules have final exam which have to score at least 40% out of 100% to pass the module. Scary eh~

Anyway, I'm looking forward to end this semester and i say MY LAST SEMESTER which is coming in March.

December
As you know, there is a trip to Myanmar already planned and the execution date is Dec 19th - Dec 25th 2014. Yes! We are going to spend Xmas in Myanmar.
After coming back from Myanmar, I'm gonna make a trip to Singapore for year end countdown...

January
Hehehe... my birthday month, anyone wants to celebrate my birthday?
I can foresee my January will be packed with group assignment and presentation. Which one of the group assignment due on January 4th 2014... *sob sob*  I have to bring my lappie with me to Myanmar.

February
Chinese New Year month but this CNY is a study CNY... right after CNY is my final exam. Sigh~
Anyway, I still haven't decide whether should go over to Ho Chi Minh City or stay in Kuala Lumpur. *Flipping the Coin*

Looks like 24 hours is not enough for me... I need 48hrs maybe 72hrs...

Coffee Place : Infusion @ One Utama

One evening while waiting for my movie to starts on 19:00. I paid a visit to this side walk coffee place, Infusion @ One Utama. It located in the old wing and one floor below TGV.

I gotten a warm greeting from the barista and ordered a Latte. Sat at the sofa behind the counter and chill over there for an hour. There is one friendly, talkative and playful barista that made the place become lively. He greeted passby and try to strike conversation with them. It's a very different environment from others.

Flower in the meal @ Eat Thai

There was a flora festival when i visited Bangkok early last month (November). My friend bought us to the high end food court at the lower ground of Embassy Central. It happened that when we were there, they have the Flora festival and we gotten the chance to taste the flower in the meal. Yes~ they placed some flower in the meal, one of the Thai delicacy since olden days.

Ingredient for rolls
We ordered spring rolls with flowers... Yup, It's various type of flowers... Taste? Taste like flower... Smell nice and sweet.

Bar hopping @ Georgetown, Penang

The night before The Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) run, TZ and friend went for a bar hopping in heritage site Penang downtown.

First stop, Traffic @ Beach Street, didn't managed to see any traffic police inside... Just saw two singers on the stage singing mandarin song... Quite a nice bistro for chatting, not so packed. Not sure it's too early~
Two singers was singing Chinese Song
2nd Stop: CAMEO - Come And Meet Each Others, not many people for us to meet. Maybe it's too early. The music is okay and it's actually a dancing club...

Come And Meet Each Other (CAMEO)
Quite empty - DJ at the stage rolling upbeat music

We ordered a bottle of beer, stay about 45 mins and decided to move on to the next destination, THE BANK... don't worry we are not gonna rob the bank eh~ We might rob the drink only. LoL

The Bank - Anyone need money?
We ended up skipped The Bank and proceed to The Press due to the timing...
Why the bar called THE PRESS? The building was hosted Kwang Wah Yit Poh press office. It has turned to one of the heritage building and the bar is named THE PRESS
The Press
To our surprise, there were a cover charge of RM50 each with a free bottle of beer or one bucket of beer / smirnoff vodka each. We told the front lady, we could not finished two buckets and she offered us to leave those for our next visit. Hey~ how long are you able to let us leave the bottles, ONE YEAR, TWO YEARS... WE ARE TOURIST LAH!!! In additional, TZ's friend was kind of pisse and a bit sarcastic... she quickly turned and agreed with our purchase of one bucket to enter THE PRESS. This was a surprise to TZ how they managed...

Anyway, we kind of enjoy our time in THE PRESS.
Inside THE PRESS
Compare to the rest of the bars, THE PRESS has the nicest interior and it has a mini skybar on the top floor which can oversee the ferry terminal and port weld. A cool place for chill over a bottle of beer or a glass of wine.

After finished a bucket + 1 bottle of Smirnoff Vodka, we decided to head back to our hotel and got 2 hours of sleep before the PBIM run. It was a very enjoyable night out with friend. ;-)

Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) - Disappointed with Organizer

Previously... TZ and friend run on the bridge and gotten their medal. Rushing over to the bus stops to grab the shuttle back to Ferry terminal. But unfortunately, with the unorganized situation on the public transport (this is not day one issue in Malaysia when talk about Public Transport), most of the runners has stuck in the runner village. The bus was approaching and those aggressive runners have squeezed themselves to stay as close as the bus even though the bus is still moving...

Crowd out of control on bus - no one in charge
 Let's zoom in...

Aggressive crowd squeeze and touch the bus as bus still moving

It took TZ and friend to ask around and figure out how to know which bus going to where, guess what? by using the oldest method - ASK. yes can't you believe that an International even the bus that ferry people to three designated points has to ask the driver.... Reminds me of kids playing the game of asking...

"Driver Driver where is this bus going"
"Driver Driver where you want to take me to... "

After 1 hour of battle with the crowd and shouted with the driver, finally TZ and friend managed to hop into a bus which bring them to KOMTAR... And basically they need to be harsh and squeeze their way through. What a joke eh~

Squeeze into the bus
There are few improvement needed especially those safety issue with near missed
Participant Park their car anywhere
The organizer allowed the participant to park their car anywhere they liked that has slowed down the feeder bus to feed the participate in/out of the runner village. This has caused thousands participants not able to get to the runner village before flagged off.

Unorganized Feeder bus
No one was assigned to orchestral the feeder bus even worst no signage on which bus went to which point. The participants have no choice but cloaked the road to ask the bus driver and some of them have no choice but pushed and squeezed into the crowd just to get into the bus. Luckily no one was under the wheel of the buses. (Extremely unsafe - BIG SAFETY ISSUE)

Timing Chip detector was not functioning
At the U-turn of 10km run, the timing chip detector was not functioning as expected due to too many participants. Not sure the detector has captured TZ's timing or not. YET to know. This has caused the runner stopped at the U-turn waiting to be detected.

Finish Line was a mess
Plenty of people standing at the finishing line to selfie, chit chatting, looking around for their friends. The participants were not able to run the last 100m to finish their run. There was no usher to control the crowd and the finishing line was not proper fenced to prevent those people whom already finished standing there to take pictures.

This is the worst marathon i haven't been, I thought WE RUN KL 2012 was bad but this is even worst, with lots of safety issues and lack of control on the crowd. Sigh~

Coffee Place : Coffee Affairs @ Bishop Street, Penang

I was at Penang for the Penang Bridge International Marathon Run... It was Saturday evening, my friend and I walked over to meet a friend of mine whom also went for PBIM run. After meeting the friend as we walked back to our hotel at Weld Quay, we came across this coffee place named Coffee Affairs.
Front entrance

Barista are busy making coffee behind the counter

I ordered a cafe Latte and my friend ordered a Hot Chocolate. We sat down and enjoyed the cafe decoration while chit chatting... It's quite unique and the whole place feel very homey.

Hot Chocolate and Cafe Latte

My Cafe Latte
The cafe latte is tasty and the temperature is just nice. Overall the experience in this cafe is nice and it's very near to our hotel that we stayed.

Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) - 10km run

TZ and friend went for the 1st PBIM on 2nd bridge. It's everyone first time running on the 2nd bridge and it's the world largest bridge run with 60,000 participants.

As early as 5am, TZ and friend has started to get ready and hit the Ferry Bus Terminal to hop on to the APBIM free shuttle that ferry people over to the PBIM runner village.

It was 6:20am in the morning, only 16 people on board waiting for the bus to leave for the bridge. Few minutes later, the crowd came in and the bus drivers has to reject some of the participant due to the bus has already full.

The bus was slowing down after Intel heading to the 2nd bridge due to heavy traffic. It took us 1 hour to reach the runner village and it was approaching 7:20am. 10 mins to the 10km flag off. TZ and friend were running towards the starting point and tried to squeeze in after the flag off. It wasn't a good idea but there was no other choice.

After the first 100m, there was the ramp up to the bridge. Everyone has slowed and walking up the ramp. TZ's friend has quoted this run as "Walkathon" instead of "Marathon". A mutual friend even quoted this run as "Running into so many lamp posts" (lamp posts = participant that walk in the middle of the runway)

After ramp up
Approaching the four pillars
After the turning back
TZ selfie with the 4 pillars
TZ and friend finished the run at around 9:30am. Managed to get the finisher medal and happily walked over to the shuttle bus station. Guess what? It was a disaster in the shuttle bus station.... [to be continue]

On watching the Big Hero 6 in 3D

Since Monday evening i don't have conference call and i was not fully recovered from the Penang Bridge International Marathon - 10km run. I decided to pay a visit to TGV OneU to watch the Big Hero 6 in 3D.

Many of my friends said it is a good movie. As this is an animated movie, i have to get this off my list fast before the school holiday starts. Just don't want to share the cinema with those kids that asking lots of questions during the movie.

"Mom why like this, mom why like that"
"Dad see the tummy... "

Worse case is the Mommy and Daddy still reply to their kids... Sigh~

Anyway, back to the movie... Should i continue to tell the story. Hmmm... don't wanna to be the spoiler i think better not. Someone will be screaming if I continue to blog about the movie. Okay, i just stop with a trailer eh~

Go ahead and watch this movie, I personally think it is nicely done as an animation especially the white bit fat robot, Baymax. Oops~

Coffee Place : Whisk Outpost @ One Utama

It's Friday again... What is your plan for weekend?

I went to Whisk Outpost @ One Utama few months back with a friend. That's why you see two cups of coffee in this post...

I like the artistic way of presenting their name on the mirror

Nicely done artistic coffee
The environment is simple and very classic, felt like old coffee place in Europe. You may sit alone at the corner or chatting with one or two friends over a cup of coffee...

They sells cake and pastry but i have not tried that yet. Maybe i have to try their cakes. No doubt it is a small and cozy coffee place, you will not feel as pack as the well known chain coffee place Starbie.

Have you been to this coffee place before? If not just give it a try and let us know what do you think about this coffee place eh~

India - Here i come

My friend being selected to receive an offer on air fare via Silk Air to India. Both of us has decided to take this opportunity to visit India.

I have been working with the Indian from India via conference call and some of them face to face. My current boss is an Indian but she has become American and currently staying in India. I heard a lot of stories regarding India from Indian stayed in India and Malaysian visited India.

Anyway, I'm exciting to explore this country which a lot of people say it's very challenging to go around and exploring this country. How challenging, to me i could not imagine but I have been to Uganda Africa, not sure is it like what i have experience in Uganda? Hmmm... let see.

Anyway, we decided to go to Darjeeling, Northeast of India, near Himalaya mountain range... So it will be -17c during March. Very cold eh~

We have shortlisted 3 places to explore and 2 Unesco Heritage.
  • Kolkata
  • Bohd Gaya
  • Darjeeling
  • Mahabodhi Temple @ Bohd Gaya
  • The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (a.k.a - Toy Train)

My friend starts the planning soon... I'm so looking forward to see and experience India. Not sure i will like it or not but i bet it will be a new experience for me.

Anyone have been to Darjeeling/Bodhgaya/Kolkata area that can share with me some valuable information and experiences?

On chilling @ Premium Lounge KLIA

My friends said I'm a frequent traveller... some of them said KLIA and KLIA2 are my 2nd home.

Do you know my 2nd home KLIA got a nice premium lounge which served free flow of Heineken Beer?

Oct 31st 2014 - I was leaving City of Potholes to City of Angel up north... I went to the airport earlier to try to catch an earlier flight. Due to my ticket is a cheapest fare, i could not checked myself in to the earlier flight. As a result, i have 3 hours to spend.

After checked-in to my original flight, i went through the immigration and security check, then went into the train to the satellite building where the KLIA Premium Lounge located. I remembered one of my credit card allowed me to stay up to 3 hours in the lounge free~

So, I decided to pay a visit and found out that they served food and Heineken Beer free...

I have been traveling for nearly every week but I didn't bother to sit in the lounge and enjoy the food, drink and its environment. But now, since they have free flow of drinks which i could booze without paying anything, i will always visit when i fly off from KLIA...

INTERSTELLAR, the movie

Are you afraid of ghost?
Are you afraid of time difference?
Are you afraid of dimensions in our world, space? (galaxy etc)
Do you want to prolong your life?

Hey, after watching this movie, it kind of giving me some thought of, is there really having this kind of dimensions and relativity theory... or just a science fictions? What do you think?

I was watching INTERSTELLAR last Friday with my friend at Paradigm Mall. I didn't expect it was a nearly 3hrs movie. Although the movie is lengthy but i did not looking forward for the movie to end. The storyline is quite good and it was a surprise ending to me.

Not to be a spoiler as i know a lot of my readers might not watch the movie yet. I would like to recommend you to watch it and let me know what do you think about those science related question they bought out in the movie...

Enjoy the movie eh~

On eating NOT FRESH Prawn @ Phat Thai Jumbo Prawn, Chatuchak Market, Bangkok

Jumbo Prawn
Jumbo Prawn
The attractive jumbo prawn looks yummy eh~
We cannot judge the book by its cover, this is true for this LOOKS yummy prawn.

The prawn that we order
We were so happy thought that we have nice and yummy jumbo prawn to eat as I got to know this Phat Thai Jumbo Prawn place from Nat Geo People featuring Chatuchak Market. 9 big prawns cost us THB1,500. One cost about RM12 per piece... If it's fresh it still worth the money, unfortunately they served us a plate of  NOT FRESH jumbo prawn... What can we do? Complain?...

When my friend inform them on the NOT Fresh jumbo prawn, they didn't even response... this is really a very disappointed encountered in Thailand. I felt being cheated as they posted an article about they received an award for its best/famous Jumbo Prawn in JJ Market. (wondered how much they pay to get the award?)

This would be the first and the last time to visit Phat Thai @ Chatuchak Market, Bangkok for its Jumbo Prawn...
