Xmas Carol from DUKE Highway Choir...

I came back at about 7 something and the DUKE Highway Choir already singing away in the usual site. They have been practicing for their Xmas Carol since 1 week ago... What song are they singing and what instrument were they using? If you really curious to know... just click here.

Tonight is Xmas eve... everyone is expecting a nice and quiet with the voice of the caroling from the choir ... for the past Xmas, i have been listening to the nice caroling from my balcony... This year there is a new choir named DUKE Highway Choir ... the normal choir consist of people singing all the xmas song like Silent Night, Jingle Bell, Santa Claus is coming to Town... yada yada yada... has been disappeared ... errrrr.... maybe i should be frank to everyone of you... it was covered by Caroling from the DUKE Highway Choir.

So what DUKE Highway Choir sung... errrrr... I don't know the songs name but this is how the sound like :p

I know what instrument they were using to compose their famous songs... They used the Excavator, Crane, Cement Truck, Saw, Hammer .... yada yada yada... Anyway, this is a special Caroling brought to my communities by DUKE Highway Choir on Xmas 2008. So what do you think on the DUKE Highway Choir... are they good? Muhahaha....

Sigh! The Duke Highway Choir a.k.a DUKE highway construction was working overtime again. The working overtime started two Friday ago... Basically they have been working over time almost everyday... and as time passed they were even worst. The person in charge refused to pick up the resident call... which residents have to call the higher management to launch the complain.

Instruments : Cement Truck and Crane...

Let rewind to December 19 2008
The resident received an apologize text from the person in charge.
"My sincere apologies for the late works recently. Sometimes we are faced with unforeseen and unfavorable circumstances that caused delay to our plan. It is not a pleasant feeling for us to have caused nuisance to the public. Rest assured that we have tried our very best to complete our work within agreed working hours. Anyway, we agree that we will not work this Sunday From XXXXX"

I took this photo on Sunday morning ...

Can you see people working? Near the Crane...

This is obvious eh?

Not working on Sunday... Is it a joke or just to be courtesy after we had complained to the DBKL authority... What would you say Mr. Project Director... Stop giving us lots of excuses to further bringing down your credibility of your construction company.

I really have nothing to say anymore... This is how we as the resident treated... the Highway construction company just treat as like a dump resident. Please tell me what has happened, on one side the construction company was sending a text to apologize but on the other hand... who cares... overtime still proceed :( Is the apologize sincere? Were they doing something to improve the situation? It'll up to you to judge >.<

Anyway, It's Xmas and i would like to wish everyone Merry Merry Xmas.... All i wish for Xmas again is not my two front teeth but is to have a quiet and peaceful evening everyday from today onwards.... :p

Is our voice faded... or just got covered by the noise

This might be a lengthy entry... but please go ahead and spend some time to read through this as this is the voice of the resident who stay near the irresponsible DUKE Highway Construction company who polluted and took away the quiet moment of the residents ...

Noise Noise why are you following me... I wanted a quiet moment in the evening... but the noise was kept bothering me ... first is the party @ downstair of my condo, Secondly is a bunch of noisy people shouting away in the quiet Starbucks... but the worst was to have to bear with this Bolehland Mighty project Duke Highway construction noise pollution.

This is how the noise in the morning within the working hour slot everyday ... which i could not make too much of complain and the only place i could avoid this noisy is bunk myself in Starbucks everyday. Sigh!

When i came back in the evening... The noise continues... hey, how could this happen as the DBKL authority have already set guideline that there is no work after 6pm and no work on Sunday too...

Starting last Saturday night (Dec 13th 2008), the DUKE highway construction company has became worst...they has started to ignore resident's complain and just went ahead with the construction. The work overtime thingy has continued through until yesterday (Dec 18th 2008)... The noise was unbearable especially after a stressful day in the workplace ... when came back home still need to bear with the noise @ home.

December 13th 2008 - Saturday
DUKE Highway construction company has continued its operation until very late at night which they basically has ignored the resident's complain and came back with this text

" I have checked with my contractor no one is working. Maybe its the KTM project."

No doubt, there is a KTM project but there was not work done on that night. I was standing from my balcony and i could overlook who is working and who is not. Moreover, since when the KTM project went over to help out in the DUKE highway project ... what a joke!

And here is the truth and i took this from my balcony...

Please don't ask me what are they doing ... I'm not in the position to answer this question but even a kids also know they are working on something and it's definitely not KTM who were working... Is not a railway track eh!...

December 14th 2008 - Sunday
Sunday! no work day right? No! ... the construction still on with all the knocking, banning and even the machine... again, the resident did not have a peaceful Sunday... Sigh! Especially the condominium as voice travel up and amplified... the highest the louder it is ... again no action was taken ... construction still on.

Lots of knocking and hammering, sawing etc...

Crane is working on digging ... errrr... another noise pollution.

Even work @ Sunday night :(

December 15th 2008 - Monday
This was an interesting day ... why i say so? We received a notification on the text from our lovely DUKE Highway Construction company

"we are still concreting bored pile @ condo area. Pile 23m deep. Works delay due to drilling machine breakdown. Work expected to complete by 9:00pm. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. from XXXXXX"

I went back about 8pm what i noticed it was not only concreting the bored but they were doing all others stuff... And immediately the resident launched a complain again as it was too noisy even more noise then in the morning... It got worsen then the other two days. Basically they have totally ignored us... Just wondered whether is our voice got faded ... *Sad Sad* Again without failed i took couple of pictures. Btw, as a resident, shall we pity them as they were basically playing a fool on us... thought we don't know what is concreting the bored means... hey Duke Highway Construction project director.. please do not think we are dump... :-(

This is bored pile concreting... I agreed!

Is this bored pile concreting too beyond the ground... hahahah, joke of the year?

How about this ? Bored pile concreting eh!... What a big joke?

What were they doing? Only the DUKE Highway Construction Company knew...

Bird eye view of the construction company work over the allocated working hour

December 16th 2008 - Tuesday
Again ... the same thing happened in Tuesday... I was not at home so i didn't take any picture One of my friend from the neighborhood did took this picture shown that they were lying again on the concreting bored pile... Should we belief them again in the future ... What should we do to stop this nightmare?

December 17th 2008 - Wednesday
The Duke Highway Construction person contact basically switched off his phone... I could not get hold of him but i managed to get hold the operation director and commanded him to ceased the operation immediately as it's was over the limit. Already 5th day on the row. Later the committee has decided to wrote an urgent letter to DBKL to request the DBKL to enforce the guideline on this construction site....

Working after 6pm on bored pile... :( concrete truck still delivering.

Violated DBKL guideline - working over the 6pm

December 18th 2008 - Thursday
I went back about 8pm, still they were working as i managed to take another shots of light on construction sites... what are they doing? Please ask the DUKE Highway construction... wheather they tell the truth or not ? You have to judge yourself as the residents have lost trust on the construction company.

What are they doing? errrrr... I have no idea

December 19th 2008
Will they work overtime again ... Yet to know but i would say likely they will work overtime today too... given outside is raining now. Sigh! another day of none quiet evening.

Anyway, it's a nightmare for the residents near the DUKE Highway Construction site... With the lose control from the authorities has even placed an additional nightmare to the resident... I wish the authority could enforce the DUKE Highway Construction company to a bid to the construction working hour guideline and help the residents to gain back their peaceful evening. The residents in need of this as after the whole day of noise pollution and stressful day @ work.

Working Late... Is there a needs?

If you follow through my blog entry regarding the DUKE highway construction, you might be noticed that i kept repeating the same issue... In fact, the resident surrounding the construction site has suffered from noise and air pollution for a couple of months now. Couples of meetings and compliants has been sent via official letters on working overtime. Unfortunately, the DUKE Highway construction company don't even give a damn on resident compliant and continue working late.

Two days ago, the construction company worked late again reason being was

"We are still concreting bored pile. Pile 43m deep. Today is last day of TNB shutdown, we have to complete the pile and from tomorrow move the machine to mdm Yap area. Works delay is expected to complete by 20:00-21:00. Sorry for the inconvenience." - dated: August 13th 2008 18:30

Later,

"Last truck concrete not enough, need to top up 2 additional concrete truck due to big cavity in limestone. now waiting for last additional truck. Works further delay and expected to complete by 9:45pm. Very Sorry. " Dated: August 13th 2008 20:50

At the end they finished the work @ about 21:30 after lots of compliants launched by one of the committee members. *sigh*

The overtime was not happened only two days ago. In fact it has been happening since the day one and i have captured all the text that sent by the construction company in this entry for the past three months. Let's go back in time and review some of the text that this construction company sent...

Base on the data captured... i think you can imagine how much suffering that the resident has been through with this irresponsible construction company whom just don't care about the resident and focus on their construction and timeline only...

Let's further analyze the data captured

Overtime caused:
Concrete Supply (4 / 11 times) <-- if solve this with the concrete supplier reduce at least 4 times
Big cavite limestone ( 3 / 11 times) <-- why can't the engineer projected base on the historical data???
Others: 4 /11 times <-- Is Friday Prayer justifiable to work late... sensitive but Project Director should plan and incorporate this into project plan...

Overtime by month:
June : 4 times
July : 5 times
August: 2 times (in two weeks)
--> 11 times within 3 months.

I'm disappointed with how the construction company handle this issue. I have a strong feeling that they just ignore us... and go ahead to do what they wanna to do in the construction sites, what do you think? We perceived this as an excuse to work late. Whether it's a real report out on the situation faced by the construction company, only the construction company members and God who know the truth... :-p

24x7 construction ... is this acceptable?

I woke up by the construction of the DUKE Highway early Saturday morning ... *Sigh*

Guess what? the highway construction company sent out a memo stated that they would work on Sunday too for the coming few Sundays. This is unacceptable... they were working 6 days a week from 8:30am - 7pm... and on some weeks the worked over the time... it's about 50-70% of the week they worked until 9pm... So, what do you think? Are we too much to object them from working on Sunday? Anyway, no matter how is the other resident/communities decision, my stand is very firm... No tolerate for working on Sunday. Reason being lots of us are working from Monday to Friday and we need Saturday and Sunday to get some relax for the following week. Since Saturday they have the rights to work for a full day and now they requested us to allow them to work on Sunday... Come on! This is a ridiculous request... DUKE Highway Construction Company...

Dear Project Director,  please consider the resident health and they need to get a quiet moment on Sunday!!! I understand your team is chasing against the time to get the highway completed. You have no rights to take away our Sunday i.e. a day without the noise of the construction. Would appreciate if you could plan on no working on Sunday into your project plan and forget about the request.... We would be much appreciated if you would not take away our Sunday... Be considerate please!!

Anyway, if they forced through to work on Sunday... I think the committee members also should force through no working after 6pm daily... I meant they need to stop @ 6pm sharp... no overtime is allow even they could not complete their work... This actually is the law set by DBKL.

What would your stand if you were staying near to the highway construction like me?

Is your life in Risk...

I have been observing on how the Duke Highway construction from my balcony for quite sometime. The construction of the highway near Jalan Khalsa has posted lots of issue and problem to the surrounding residents... first of all, the bridging of the working hour, the stagnant water and rubbish within the construction site, the safety measure etc... For the past 2 months since the construction was picking up and the company is running against the time, all their safety measure has not been complied and got ignored... This has jeopardized the residents near the construction sites.

Take a look at the video clip below... tell me what do you think?

The crane shoot over the fence and hanging over the road... jeopardize the road users and residents...

Air pollution from the pale machine which polluted the air quality... Carbon has been released to the air and jeopardize the residents' health...

BTW, i also took some shots on the working environment...

The truck should not be going too near to the house... jeopardize the people in the house
What is in the barrel? Liquid that is flammable? Placing under the high tension wire
Closer view of the barrel... looks like some flammable petrol product...
Side view of the same size barrel... again place under high tension wire...

I would like to post a question to TNB on this scenario... is TNB allow the construction company place some barrel with liquid inside under the high tension wire? Is this comply to the TNB safety measure?

I hope the DUKE Highway construction could improve and comply to the safety so that they would not jeopardize the resident and road users life... Safety should be more important than the timeline and construction... A mistake will cost a human life... please be safe then sorry later...

Dengue Fever Source?

I was attacked with Dengue Fever two weeks ago... fortunately i have a strong immunity and i just recovered from Dengue Fever after 5 days without admitted to the hospital. But until today, i still not sure where i got the mosquito bite... moreover, the dengue fever department from the health ministry did not do any investigation... Malaysia Boleh lah! i think they are waiting for the next victim... ;-)

I noticed for the past few weeks, there were lots of mosquitos @ the lobby of my condo especially late evening @ the carpark... could it be i got bitten by the mosquitos downstair @ the lobby?... so i decided to walk around my condo to look at the environment.. the cleaning company has done a good job to maintain the surrounding within the condo. No potential breeding ground for mosquitos was being discovered...

Guess what? This morning as i was testing my lens and i discovered quite a number of potential mosquitos breeding ground within/in the DUKE highway construction sites. So dangerous! the construction sites company did not even bother to take care of the residents' health and safety... creating all the potential mosquito breeding ground... :-(

look at the stagnant water, will this be the mosquitos breeding ground?

Closer view from the 1st picture... focus on the water...

Will this fulfilled the criteria for Aedes mosquitos to breed?

Closer view from the previous photo... So, what do you think?

These two pictures even shocked me...

Focus on the bunch of stuff in the middle of this picture... what is this? Look @ next picture

The DUKE highway construction company is not taking care of the environment *sigh*

Now, I really worry about all the residents in this surrounding area... who will be the next victim if i really got bitten by the Aedes Mosquitos near my condo here. I think the DUKE Highway Construction Company should clean up the rubbish and solved the stagnant water issue... Will need to let the MP's PA know about this issue...

DUKE Highway Construction Company, you are responsible to solve this immediate before the outbreak of the Dengue Fever or others diseases... We, resident need a clean and safe environment... Please don't jeopardize our life...

We need to meet the deadline...

This entry is a back dated entry which the event has happened on June 13th 2008. Due to i was having dengue fever, i was down and wasn't be able to post this entry. Now, I would like to post this entry to show my disappointment towards the Duke Highway Construction Company bridging their promises <-- THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE DAY 1  :-(

"We need to meet the deadline", "we have unforeseen circumstances", "It's 51m deep", "sorry but we need to work until 11pm today".....  etc. were the replies from the Duke Highway Construction company after my compliant on two Friday ago i.e. June 13th 2008 @ about 7pm something. I was extremely upset and disappointed with what the Duke Highway Construction company has done especially on bridging their agreement that set earlier during the meeting i.e. no work will be done after 7pm.

The Duke Highway Construction company has worked on the highway construction until 12am on June 13th 2008. This has posted an enormous noise and air pollution to all the resident surrounded the construction site. The vibration of the machine pulling out the casing from the hole was felt by the houses/condo near the construction site too... Tell me, how the resident take a good rest after a whole day of work. Who should be responsible on this? No one? *Sigh*

As for me i was having fever and I was not able to sleep due to the construction. I have tried to sleep with all windows and doors closed but because i am staying high up in the condominium... I was suffered with the extreme noise from the machine sound like coming from the next door. Can you sleep with this humongous noise? *sigh*

Since i could not sleep, i took out my camera and took some pictures on the construction site...

Two cement trucks was unloading the cement to the hole... enormous noise was produced
Not sure what the workers were doing ... ;-)
I think they were testing the hole
Looking @ the hole...

Fortunately, the MP of the area, YB Tian Chua and his PA came and understood the situation... the Duke Highway Construction Company has no choice to stop @ 12am... otherwise they might work 24 hrs... *sigh* Anyway, for the past few days, they stopped work before 7pm until today.

I received three different texts (SMS) from the Duke Highway Construction Company on extending their working hour again a few hours back. First came to my mind was a disappointment... *sigh* when will they stop bridging their agreement...

Here you goes the text
  1. "We are still concreting bored pile. pile 45m deep concrete supply quite slow. Works delay expected to complete by 7:30-8:00pm. Sorry for inconvenient caused. from xxxxxxx" (received about 5+pm)
  2. "Last concrete truck already arrived. Works further delay expected to complete by 8:30pm. very sorry from xxxxx" (received about 7:30pm)
  3. "Concrete just completed. tq from xxxxxx" (received about 8pm)

I don't know when was the actual time they stopped the work. I was not at home tonight. By the time i arrived, the work has already stopped. Anyway, i would like to stress a point out which i think it's not very fair with what happen here. If you notice on the first text, there was a statement mentioned "concrete supply quite slow"... because of some miss managed I belief on the concrete supply by the company and the supplier, the resident has to suffer the noise and air pollution by giving away their quite moment after a whole day of work... is this fair to the resident? Who will compensate the pain that the resident suffer? the Government (hahaha)? The Highway construction company (do you think they will) ? More over the government authority was siding the highway construction company rather than helping the resident to resolve the issue... *sigh*

Good Morning KL...

Good morning KL... It's 8:30am May 29th 2008... Thursday morning... what is your plan? Almost all of you has reached or on your way to the office,  i bet some of you are sipping your 1st cup of coffee to start your day eh!...

I woke up early this morning (usually i woke up at 9:30am). You must be wondered what job i have and which company i woke with ... hiak hiak. I'm now in between job... so i could enjoy :-> Anyway, if you follow my entry, i have accepted a job far far away and going to leave Malaysia soon.

Guess why i woke up early this morning? I got pissed if someone woke me up during my sleep... so don't ever call me if i'm sleeping eh!

Usually the first thing in the morning i will do is to look out the view from my balcony. This morning the KL view was quite beautiful with some mild sunlight.

I don't mind sitting @ the balcony for hours just to stare @ the nice view but with the construction... I think i better go to Starbucks for the rest of the day... the noise is making me crazy...

Gotta go rite now ... enjoy your Thursday eh!... One more day and we will be able to enjoy the weekend ... anyway, everyday is a weekend for me... hiak hiak hiak :-p

Is safety a concern?

Since the construction of Duta Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) started two months ago. There were lots of complaints and inconveniences caused by the construction of this highway in my neighborhood and the rest of the neighborhoods. Safety is always a concern from the resident near the construction area... but for the past two months, safety did not seem likes one of the focus area by the highway authority and the construction management / company.

I'm upset with all the safety caution / steps that the management have taken within the construction sites and its environment. The construction company did not take into the consideration on the safety of the resident as the heavy vehicle such as cement trucks were carrying out the load in and out from the entrance near the residential area. This entrance is the entrance that would post a life threatening to the young children whom stay in the surrounding area. Why? The cement trucks were driving throught the narrow resident road and this road is quite busy with cars, cyclists and people walking in the sideway near the houses. In additional those people whom stay in the house within the area would also risk their life as well when they reverse their car out from the yard.

Here you go the short clip that i took from my balcony...

My neighborhood was so disappointed as we had raised this up when we had the meeting with the highway authority and the construction company not to use the entrance near the residential area. I wish the highway authority and the construction company could act on this before something has happened or any of the resident life has been taken away by the heavy vehicle.

Be proactive and be safe.

Bolehland mega project in KL - Duta Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE)

Bolehland decision maker has planned on this highway two years ago... finally, the highway has come and it will be going to build near my condo... :-( I had a great concern on how safe is the highway building so close to the residential area. I strongly belief this will only happen to bolehland... if you have a chance to visit Canada, US and China... this scenery will not be seen as they make sure that all the highway will have a certain distance from the residential area. Bolehland decision maker, can we make this as a tourism place of interest?

How safe do you think if you are staying so near to the Tenaga National Berhad (TNB) [electricity] pyron?

Today, there was a case that one of the arm from the pyron fell into a house underneath it another hanging there tangling. This house has been here for nearly a decade but recently because bolehland government has approved a concessionaire to build a highway in an extremely constraint piece of land. So all the right a way has been used for the highway and the electricity pyron, what it left was nothing to the property besides this land. I'm not sure but i think the bolehland will be the first country which approve the pyron/electricity pole run parallel above the highway. What do you think? Is this safe for the road users? especially all the oil tanker... how much risk will this highway bring to the road users and the surrounding community? ... Bolehland decision maker will ignore all this safety related until something happened that involves life (20-30 people died because of some safety issue). Then they starts panic and come out all kind of fantastic explanation to answer questions ;-) This is because of mother nature ... hey mother nature, you had been blamed for taking people life you know ... what a joke right? Anyway, i would not wanna to comment too much here. Just see for yourself on some of the picture that i taken. I circled in red is the arm of the pyron.
