Flash Flood in KL again... Where is our Smart Tunnel?

I was so disappointed and shocked to realize that the massive traffic jam this evening was caused by a flash flood in downtown KL reported by Malaysian Insider dated March 03 2009...

Picture from The News Strait Time

I was stuck in the traffic for about 2.5 hours after attending MSC Malaysia Pre-Seed Fund Programme @ MSC cybernet hall, Plaza Sentral. Bahija and I stranded in the traffic from KL Sentral until Jalan Ipoh... The car only moved inch by inch... hehehe.... walking even faster than driving ... So, we were wondered what had happened to KL city... ??????? .... Well, after checking with all our friends and we found out that there were a severe flash flood in downtown... Sigh! Sigh! Sigh!

So, Where is our world well known Smart Tunnel which famous for its duel usage ... flood and traffic... Today marked another big questions mark from all the residence of Kuala Lumpur... how useful is our lovely 1.887 billion "Smart Tunnel"... The residences of KL had suffered for at least 2 hours jam from their work place back to their home after a 3 hours of heavy rain... Is the Smart Tunnel put on usage to flow the excess water out from KL downtown... errrrrr... I doubt so :p

I think the Smart Tunnel couldn't handle the speed of the flood. It's not entirely its fault but nature screwing with us after we "raped" it for decades. Look at England for a good example - massive amount of snow.

Yes, we know thats not entirely 'Smart Tunnel' fault, but why government need to spend 1.8m for this 'useless' tunnel. If you are tax payer, i believe you will ask the same question.

Imagine you buy a TV, it stated there how good it is, but when u bring it home, it din perform like what it stated! you will just leave it or ask for refund!?

Seriously I m not offend anyone, I m just not satisfy our hard earn money spend on those 'useless' stuff, this is not the first failed project.

The tunnel is TOOsmart enough that you won't be able to understand how does it function. Always feel bad for those people who work in KL, as I have the same experience few years back. No more KL for me, hopefully...

Fable Frog: yup... that's KL... where the SMART TUNNEL located... Sigh! Sigh!

Gallivanter: According to my friend who used the tunnel to travel from one point till another point during the flood... this has indicated that the Tunnel was not in used for the function of preventing flood... :(

Anonymous: I totally agreed with you... I felt that our tax payer money was miss used for this white elephants which never at once used in preventing the flood... If we go back to their proposal before the tunnel built ... remember that's was a year that KL has a flash flood... then the govt proposed to build this and guarantee that KL has not flood after the investment ... What happened to last night??? Anyone can explained????.... 1.8B7B for a dump Tunnel... :(

K|E|E|N|Y|E|E: hahaha.... Smart Tunnel... if tonite there's another flash flood again... I would call the Tunnel to be A DUMB TUNNEL... :p

Glog : hahaha.... what could i say as a Malaysian... 1.887B spent and flash flood still happened ... :p

so happened i worked late but when i leave office (jln ampang/jln tun razak intersection), the jam towards general hospital was still moving inch by inch at 9.30pm

it streched all the way beyond kuchai lama exit (at sg besi-seremban highway)
