It's tough to kick start the day especially yesterday was the national holiday with a long weekend... I'm not sure how you could start your engine... I usually start my engine with a hot caffeinated drink... Yup~ It's coffee~

What do you understand about flexibility working hour?

Flexibility working hour is you have no fix working hour, you can work at anytime, anywhere and with anyone... 

One day i bump into one friend...  The friend was on off day.

Friend: hey you finished your work so early? (@4:30pm). What is your official working hour?

Me: I have no official working hour. I can leave as early as i wanted and adjust my working hour to have conference call meeting at night. Sometime, I need to work till 12am.  

Friend: Wow~ Meeting at night. back to office? Teleconferencing? 

Me: Nope~ Just audio conferencing with US and Panama... sometime with Europe and India. I usually work from home at night. 

Friend: Good la, you can get out from work early to hit the gym. Basically, you can avoid the crowd.

Me: You are better position as you don't need to worry after getting out from work. Basically you work 8-5:30pm. Your life is better~ No worry after 5:30pm.

Friend: My job also tedious one... lots of people i need to see during my working hour. 

Me: Tell me about it, I don't see people with their face, I hear what they say... hearing their voice. Hehe... I also see lots of people.

Friend: We all have different working responsibility. I still preferred your working hour. 

Me: Wait till you are in my shoes.. i don't think you preferred then. 

Friend and Me: LoL. We all working class slave whether is flexible or fix working hours

So do you still want to have flexible working hour or stick to 8-5:30pm? Which one is your preference? 

Worst Boss

Have you encountered Worst Boss in your career?

 In the beginning, maybe you are thinking the boss is just a problem boss. But as time goes by... you will reconsider whether him or her is a Worst Boss... I think a worst boss is a boss that do not know how to manage and tap into his or her subordinate strength to get the best out of the employees. The boss just shut off his or her mind after some incident happen or some incorrect verdict from other employees. This kind of boss is a very tough boss to manage i.e. tough boss to work with and DO NOT EXPECT HIGH RETURN!!!

When you encountered these bosses, try to stay calm and move forward. Either trying a way to manage the boss or runaway from the Worst Boss.

TZ @ ambiguous period...

Reorganization, Restructuring, Re-mapping resources... are very common terminology in Multinational Companies. The more the workforce turns into global, the more political issues arose.  Due to the saving storm, most of the companies will keep restructuring and reorganizing until they reach the target or stay within the cost.

Guess what? I'm going to report to a different manager again after the restructuring of my team. Hurray~ This will be my 4th boss within 2.5 years with the company. Is it good or bad to me? Hmm... I think good is we get to have fresh start whenever there is a change but... Bad is obviously we need to re-adjust ourselves to new expectation from different boss. Style change again eh~. Sigh!

Anyway, whenever there is a restructuring/reorganizing... there will be an ambiguous period within the team. Lots of rumors are wondering around too. This colleague is going to resign, that colleague is looking for a better position outside the team (i.e. internal transfer). blah blah blah... So how true is that?

TZ is in the ambiguous period as he forced to leave the good manager whom he is reporting and could easily work well with . Now he has to start all over again to work out the expectation with the new boss... Good or bad?

when to say; where to start; what to expect; how to action; why?

LoL... this no longer on figuring where to visit shown in the picture above. It is the period on getting the 4W and 1H answered and plan out the right career path... :p

Political Tsunami

Most of you must be thinking i will write about Malaysia General Election related post eh~ You are wrong! I'm not going to write about our lovely government or those useless and useful Members of Parliament etc etc... So please do not arrest me eh~

Politician is not a job which only exists in a country... it's a globalized job and exists in everywhere... it exists in a big family, a small company, a big corporation, a country and maybe in the future it exists in space too like Star Treks... Muahahaha!!

Anyway, I'm about to tell you some story which happen in the big corporation. CHANGE is a constant  in a big corporation especially the multinational company. Almost everyone in the big corporation has to learn how to be politician. True or Not? Those who work in big corporation, are you a politician?

Recently one of my colleague got switched within 24 hours from Project Manager to Business Analyst, according to her project team members, she is doing very well on managing the project, in fact she has managed the project for couples of months since the project kicked started. The management just decided to place a new / inexperience PM to the project just because the new PM requests... (Good luck to the team)... Anyway, i weren't wanna to get myself involve into this kind of matter. So i will not write more about this... It's kind of scary as i don't know when would be my turn as i am new to this group. 

Again, I have to stress CHANGE is constant in the big corporation... So no matter how, we need to get ourselves prepare to undertake the Tsunami which might or will sweep away our career... Are you prepare to undertake / avoid the political Tsunami?

Change is on the way...

When a project goes into a sustaining mode... there's when the time a project manager has to move on. Guess what? My project finally moved into sustaining mode. So i have to move on. Today is my last day of handling my current project... I have transitioned myself out from the project... 

For the past few weeks i was busy searching for a new group with the new project. Finally i gotten a new project which is more interesting than what i had before... The new project is mainly dealing with process improvement and interact with the business up to 90% of my project time. The main objective of the project is to handle the process re-engineering and recommend the automation solution to the customers. Understand the business, help business to improve their process with automation... This is the kind of job that I prefer rather than talking to another group of people whom are project/program managers to provide the services.

Anyway, i'm excited to kick start my new project in June. Hopefully the new project can bring me to Europe and US on business trip eh~ :p

EMO Monday

Monday was a very messy day for me... not saying it's the first day of work after my vacation but also an interesting day for me... Why?

Car emo

My car was emo on Monday. Never wanna to get started, even i tried and tried and tried. The car still cannot start. So, i have no choice but went back up to my condo and took out my lappie to continue to work. The moment i wanna to send out the Work From Home message to my team....

Internet connection emo

The internet suddenly gone emo and could not get connected... :( So what next? No car, no internet... how to work? So, i tried to call for help... guess what?

iPhone emo

My iPhone just emo on me... i could not slide open my iPhone to call. No car, no internet and no communication. WTF! So how? I tried and tried and tried... finally i managed to slide and called up my boss, informed him my situation and told him i will work offline reading my mail @ home at the same time tried to contact the mechanic for my car...

Electricity emo

Minutes later, the whole building ran out of electricity... oh god, why was this happen to me. No electricity, No car, No internet and limited communication (cause not all the time i could slide my iPhone)... at the end...

TZ emo

I was sad and emo... but still have to try my best to solve the situation. I went down to the car park again and gave the car a try... finally i was able to get the car started. Hurray! I could head to the office...  i quickly took shower and headed to the office.

What a day eh~

Work work and work

All WORK and no play makes Jack a dull boy

All WORK and no gym makes TZ a fat boy

I skipped gym for 5 days straight, i was tied up with all the activities that came out last minutes. I tried to finish all my task on time around 4pm but the moment i wanted to pack and leave the office... something came out and my boss assigned them to me. The task was so short lead time that i need to accomplish within hours. So, I have NO choice but staying back to complete them :(

Anyway, i managed to hit the gym yesterday and have a nice workout. I hope the coming week will not gate me to gym... 

Please please let me go to gym eh~ I need to train for my Penang Bridge run on Nov 20th 2011.

Crappy Day 81111

Daily life... CHANGED

I have been so soooo sooo busy for the past few months since day one i joined this company. My friend has given me the nick name. Busiest man. Of cause you have knew this from my blog too. I seldom update my blog nowadays. Reason being.... Busy!

Besides the blog, I seldom hit the gym too. What a sad case :(  TZ no longer the gym bunny which goes to gym everyday. So my body weight has increased dramatically and i'm getting fatter and fatter. I'm having the healthy lifestyle but now not so healthy anymore. I must pick up my gym again... Gym gym here i come...

CHANGE is good but CHANGE from better to worst is not a good CHANGE.

April 11th - The moment has come...

I was busying to get everything planned out and prepared for the big day... hmmm... of cause not my big day. It's my system big day. The application that i handle will be going live on April 11th 2011. A lot of people is watching this moment.

We yet to get the end user sign off for the go-live. So the moment has come... Sign off time. Anyway, for the past 2 days i was working as the orchestra conductor... conducting the final deployment of the long waited system. I have been working 17 hours each day for the last 2 days. I only have one focus... Get the system out and put it on live...

At last the moment has come... and i have officially handed over to my counterpart whom is going to hand over the system to the end customers.

So what is the decision? Go or No go?.. Will update you when the time comes...

Doing Business while having Business Meeting

For the IT technology company, the trend is to allow its employees to have a flexi working hour. Especially those team that support globally. The moment you woke up in the morning, there will be meeting until the moment before you hit the sacks, meeting still goes on.

So nowadays, working from home is another trend for most IT companies. As long as the work done, the company and boss will not bother what you are doing. So to be creative to save some time. A colleagues of mine just do his business while attending the business meeting. Before i proceed, just wanna to do a check here. What would you thinking when you see this title?

Thanks to the technology of wireless on phone and connection. Basically you can do meeting anywhere and everywhere. So while you are doing your business, you could attend the business meeting. "Doing Business" in this case means that you are having a dump... :p Why i think of this? I have a ex-colleagues who always attend the business meeting in the toilet and one day he forgot to mute. During the meeting, he flushed the toilet after done his dump. The flushing sound came into the meeting, the whole meeting stopped and everyone just kept quiet. Follow by the laughed. What a embarrased moment for him eventhough we could not see his facial expression and his naked body *wink*

Another colleague of mine wishes to have a water proof telephone so that he could take a shower while attending the business meeting... I could not figure how to take a shower while having meeting. Can someone please paint the scenario :p

BUSY WITH WORKS

Working Round the Clock

My very first time working round the clock after joining this new company... 

I was working with my deployment team from various region to deploy a new system to the production on Saturday early morning. The plan was to start from 12am to 12pm Saturday. 

But things went wrong with one interface and we were stuck, multiple retry but we decided to give up on 10:30pm Saturday. I was super tired after the whole long hour of following the team progress. I ended my day with a nice hot shower. 

While waiting for my hair to dry, I went online and did some chatting, facebooking until i dozed off. 

Guess what i just woke up... it's 12pm Sunday. Still feeling tired and half a day just wasted like this... :(

6 projects and 1 PM...

Do I enjoy my work in my new company?
My answer will be 937. (What is 937? Just use your phone keypad to find out.)

Why?... Hmmm... I felt satisfied when handle these projects. They gave me a moderate challenge at this moment given that I'm still new. Expectation is not as high yet. But moving forward I have anticipated more challenges with higher expectation from my boss and my co-workers.

Recently, a lot of my time has been invested into ramping up in my new job. I wanted to get up to speed to be able to be one generation ahead of the up coming actinides. Now, due to new to these projects.

Will I make it? Again I would say 937. I will definitly try my best to achieve them. At this moment, I will have to continue to invest my time...

My very first Team Building in 2011

I just switch to a new environment last week and they nominated me to organize this quarter team building.  I cracked my head to think what would be the more suitable activities for team building. So i started to check with the team members what have they done for the past. And at the same time check with my boss on the budget. 

It's a half a day teambuilding. So i quickly shortlisted three choices for the team to choose

1. Karaoke @ Neway

2. Ice skating + meal

3. Archery + meal

Guess what? Majority has choosen...

Yup It's archery... I think everyone wanna to be Robin Hood. *wink* 

TZ is going to Sunway Pyramid for Archery this afternoon for team building... but now let's hit the bed and have a nice sleep. :p

First day of work...

What do you do when you are having the first day of work... I meant new environment. I was sitting in the training room with all the new hire to go through a whole day briefing from various department.

The new company has a nice environment with all the different facilities. There is a big cafeteria, a big fridge size coffee machine with all kinds of different hot drinks... And a vendor machine that sells can drink. Not to forget there is a gym with showers, a pool table, a gaming room with Dota, Warcraft etc..., a foosball table etc... So what do you think about my new office... Fun place to work?  :p

I will report myself back to the department and will get a work laptop... BTW, each of us will be given a nice lanyard together with the access card, a mug with our name on it and a nice pen drive with the company logo as the goodies for joining the company :)

What else i will get?... Hmmm... need to find out more tomorrow.  Anyway, gotta hit the bed now.

Chapter closed...

January 7th 2010 Kuala Lumpur Cloudy: Today, marks the last page of the current chapter for TZ. Why? He is going to close this chapter as he will proceed with a different working environment from Monday onwards.

TZ has decided to move on and closed the current chapter with his current position and company. Today is the last day in this current company. He will have a new environment, new colleagues and new role on next Monday.

Anyway, he feels bittersweet to leave the current colleagues as they are a bunch of friendly and fun people to work with... Anyway, life has to move on... Now the bunch of the colleagues have been added to his Facebook and become his friends ;-)

Hey, gotta go now, have to hit the office to go through the last day of work... hand over all the necessary items back to the HR. Ciao~

Tired and speechless...

Another few more days the system is going to live... There are still so much unrested portion. Can we manage to complete on time to roll out the system? Errr... It's hard to say...

Anyway, the whole team have been working hand in hand to place this system together. Just a couple of days to go. Let's do it team~

Okay better hit the bed now. Going to the gym tomorrow morning cause don't think I have time in the evening... Ciao~
