Yummy Sarawakian Food

When you go for a tour, what you will definitely not missing is to try out as many local food as possible. My trip to Kuching was also a food tasting trip besides the point of interest (Sarawakian Cultural Village, Kuching City tour and Sarawak River Cruise etc). Managed to try various famous Sarawakian food from Siew Bee, Kolo Mee to the three layer tea...

Three Layer Tea
Sarawakian Layer Cake
Not sure whether the Sarawakian really like layering.... They have famous layer tea, layer cake and what else?... LoL

My friend bought me to this 80 years old Siew Bee Stall. This stall located in a food court near the river. Siew Bee in Kuching means Siew Mai in Kuala Lumpur. But Siew Bee tastes different from Siew Mai.. I don't know how to describe the difference but i recommend you to try out yourself. The Siew Bee in this  small stall which has survived with only selling one product for 80 years. It's no doubt very tasty... Yum yum~

80 years old business - Siew Bee
Guess what? My friend can wallop around 20s at one time... And his parents hand carried the frozen Siew Bee to Kuala Lumpur for my friend. :p

Sarawak have few famous noodles  i.e. Kolo Mee; Kampua mee and Laksa Sarawak... I managed to try two out of three noodles. Kampua mee is Sibu famous noodle. So I need to pay a visit to Sibu to taste this noodles and not forgetting the famous Empurau Fish too.

Kolo Mee
Laksa Sarawak
Every state in Malaysia has its own Laksa, but Laksa Sarawak has its own unique taste. First of all, it's not LEMAK (no coconut milk), and it also not so spicy. This is because its soup base is only full of quality black pepper planted in Sarawak.

Sarawakian also have its own famous wine called Tuak (Made of Rice). The % of  alcohol contain is quite high, i'm not sure how much but once you have a few sips. You will feel tipsy...

Home-made Tuak
Are you drooling over all these yummy food? Will you fly over to Kuching to taste all these Yummy food?

The legend of Hercules...

My Singaporean friend has suggested to watch the legend of Hercules last Saturday... she was looking forward for the Hercules' body... Is Hercules having a nice body?

Adapted from Wikimedia
Since I'm not a regular movie goer, most of the movie i haven't watch so i'm okay with any of the movies. We decided to watch it in Cineleisure Cathay Orchard Road after our Twin Tower Sushi lunch.

The Legend of Hercules as a whole was not that great, storyline was sucks and nothing but the muscular body...

Adapted from http://www.justjared.com/
Friend A : The movie is so so only. The storyline sucks.
Friend B : What do you expect? Is all about body
Friend A : Initially the body is nice but after a while, the body was nothing great about...
Friend B : Body was the selling point...
Me : hmmm....

Do you think so?

If i would rate this movie, it would be 3/10... which 10 is the best. So nothing much to hooha about. Maybe for some ladies out there the body might be what they are looking forward to... LoL :p

PS: after the movie, my friend keeps asking me to aim for getting a built like Hercules... Hmmm... i really have no comment~

My newly known friend has arranged a night out at the Alexis Ampang for a LIVE performance by Bihzhu from Penang.

We had our dinner at Alexis Ampang... Dinner was so so and to me the Alexis burger was not that great. The Fatboy, Chillis and TGIF burger is way way better than Alexis burger. I should have order their Asian food ;-)

On visiting MacRitchie Trail, Singapore

A lot of people have the same mindset of myself... when we mentioned Singapore, this is the image that comes up to our mind...

Guess what? Singapore has lots more to offer... The MacRitchie Trail is a very nice natural reserve park which covered a very wide area.

MacRitchie Trails Map
We decided to go with the Orange Color trail which is 7.0km return. This trail is not a difficult trail as mentioned in the map... Interesting enough after 200m, we walked into the jungle like path...

The Trail
Along the trail, we are greeted with a small stream parallel with the trail. No fishes were detected...

The Trail

After 3.1km, we finally came to the gate of the HSBC TreeTop Walk. The main attraction of MacRitchie Trail.

Gate to the HSBC TreeTop Walk
It's a one way to the other sides... Meaning you could not walk back to this end. The exit is over the other end of the TreeTop walk.

TreeTop Walk
From the TreeTop Walk, we managed to see the MacRitchie Reservoir... Due to the hot sun... we took a few shots and left the place and back to the trail...

Can you see the MacRitchie Reservoir?
We managed to finished the whole 7km trail within 2.5-3 hrs. The recommended time to complete this trail is 3-4 hours. Hahaha... we still consider Fit :p

On visiting Batu Cave

It have been such a long time i haven't been to Batu Cave... when is the last time i went to Batu Cave? Can't even recall. This means that i haven't been there for a couple years. Anyway, there are quite a bit of change at Batu Cave. For those whom don't know what is Batu Cave... It's a temple built inside the Cave decades ago... Since the cave located higher ground, you need to climb 273 steps to get to the main temple.

Inside Batu Cave, there is a main temple on the left

Early bird got the worm... Why i say that because we visited Batu Cave at around 8am. No many people visits the cave yet. Mainly those whom were using the staircase for training. As a result, the parking is FREE and we managed to observe people's offerings being offered to the GOD in the main temple.

It's kind a good experience to visit Batu Cave... Have you been to Batu Cave before?

On visiting Kanching Waterfall

One of my friend invited me to join his team of friends whom likes the outdoor. I'm not that much of an outdoor person especially jungle trekking with all the leeches. This round my friend told me there is no leeches and it's a very simple hike. Yay Yay~

Saturday morning, I drove over to my friend place, parked my car and hopped on to his car. We went for Dim Sum brekkie @ Selayang before heading over to Kanching Waterfall.

Where is Kanching Waterfall? Kanching Waterfall located near Templar park. It's a natural reserve park between Templar and Rawang. The waterfall has divided into multiple levels. The well maintained levels are from level 1~4. I managed to go up to level 5 which unfortunately was not even maintained... the gazebo near the level 5 waterfall has collapsed.

We decided to stayed in Level 4 which is we could have the whole waterfall by ourselves.

Level 2
After spending 2 hours plus sitting by the waterfall since i didn't want to swim. We ended our outing with a fishy lunch at Lan Je. Order 3 type of African fish (the black one) dishes. The same type of African fish that i had in Uganda Africa. But the fish texture was not as good as in Uganda as it was sweet and chewy over there but not in Lan Je. Rare vs Wild...

White House Down - July 4th movie

"Tell me how much time i have... "

My friend whatsapp me and asked me whether i was freed for a movie last night. I asked him what movie that he wanna to watch. He told me White House Down. I have no idea what is the storyline but i guess it should be those July 4th movie. The movie only cost us RM8.00 per pax because of Wednesday night is the cheap movie night... So it's value for money :)

As usual, i don't wanna to be the spoiler and get scolded by those movie fanatic whom haven't watch the movie. But my two cents is worth to watch if you like action movie.

Food Overloaded... #Malacca - Part 2

Continue from Food Overloaded... #Malacca - Part 1
The food hunting continues...

Breakfast @ Bamboo Hut. Our hotel room included the BIG Breakfast... not the McDonald's big breakfast although they have the same name. But the breakfast @ Bamboo Hut is much more healthier than McD.

Did you see the two LOVELY sunny side up?

We not even walked 300m after our breakfast earlier. We stopped for another round of meal in between. Can we call snack?

We were lining up for the famous @Chung Wah Chicken Rice Ball... luckily the queue was not long and we waited 15 mins to get to our turn.

How many balls you can eat?

What next? If you happen to go to Malacca, i bet you will not want to miss this shop especially its product. One of my KL friend asking us to bring back a slide of Mille Crepe. I bet by now you should be able to figure out what am i talking about. Yes!!! It's @Nadeja Cafe.

What so great about Nadeja's Mille Crepe?

After Nadeja, we felt a bit hungry and craving food but not cakes. We headed over to the @Ming Satay Hut for a round of pork satay before leaving Malacca...

Can you calculate... how many sticks?
The Ming pork satay has marked the end of our Malacca getaway. We finished the pork satay and headed back home...

What type of food is your favorite when you pay a visit to Malacca?

JungFrauJoch - The highest point of Europe

What TZ did on this year April fool? hahaha... TZ visited the highest point of Europe called JungFrauJoch - Top of Europe. The highest point that you may visit is located at 11,782ft / 3,571m above the sea level.

How to get there?
You have to take a two hours train from Interlaken to Kleine Scheidegg and switched to another train to go up to the JungFrauJoch - Top of Europe station. The journey took 2 hours from Interlaken including the transit to the top. The train fare cost CHF179 return which equivalent to RM716.

Train to JungFrauJoch - Top of Europe @ Kleine Scheidegg
@ the Top of Europe, you will experience the feeling of gasping for breath as the air is thinner.
Anyway, how's the view at the top?

As we walked along to the other side of the building we were directed to the Icy Glacier area of the mountain. This is an interesting area as the floor, ceiling, wall were made of ice. i.e. we are inside the glacier.

We stayed there for half a day and decided to leave the place to head back to Interlaken to do some shopping and later catch our train back to Zurich for our connecting train to Brussel, Belgium. There will be another adventure in Brussel, Belgium eh~

JungFrau
JungFrauJoch - Top of Europe is a worth to visit as we have experienced quick a number of things which we would not be able to find them in Malaysia
  1. The high altitude gasping for breath cause it's 11,782ft above sea level about 2.5 times higher than Mt. Kinabalu.
  2. Walking and half sliding on the icy floor inside the Glacier. Squeeze through the small tunnel inside the Glacier
  3. Sit in the train that climb up the mountain with spectacular view of the rocky Alps mountain range
  4. Amazing long tunnel inside the mountain range which is built 100 years ago
  5. JungFrauJoch got its Unesco World Heritage status on 2001

SkyBar @ Traders Hotel

Yup! the bar is high up in the sky...

The famous and popular Skybar is located at 33th floors of Traders Hotel KLCC. The bar has become an icon or a must visit place when you are in  Kuala Lumpur.

SkyBar located at 33th floor of Trader Hotel. It started with a simple pool bar like other poolside bar in Kuala Lumpur. If you look into the picture below carefully, you would be able to see some people swimming in the pool. Once sundown... the Skybar will turn into a live bar with nice music and booze. Not to mention the spectacular view of Petronas Twin Tower as the backdrop of the bar which has made this place a very nice place to chill and hangout with friends after work or weekend.

Skybar - Traders Hotel KLCC
Last Monday (June 10th) was my friend's birthday. I was searching high and low for a nice place to celebrate my friend's birthday. Finally i figured out and brought her to this prestigious bar in Kuala Lumpur.  We order foods and drinks, sitting facing outside, waiting for the spectacular moment...

Mojito x 2
Spectacular moment... what is the moment about?
If you get a nice seat by the windows you will get a splendid view of Petronas Twin Tower...

Sunset view
Sundown... Lights up
Completely lights up in dark
So the spectacular moment is that you got the chance to see the different snapshots of the Petronas Twin Tower as time passerby from sunset until the lights up completely as the sky getting darker and darker.

You might also wanna to turn around and look at the bar with the pool and it's surrounding area within the CBD of Kuala Lumpur.
