Two countries in 9 Days - Day 2 : Birthday + Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner

January 30th 2014 - My Birthday and CNY reunion dinner

Today is my Birthday, to celebrate my birthday, my sister has arranged a morning walk around the flower market and street art in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC)...

Boat bringing flowers from Mekong Delta

Boat full of flowers
At the art street, got the chance to see how Vietnamese wrote the Lunar New Years artistic painting and calligraphy. The Vietnamese also using the ink and brush like Chinese in China.

Writing the Horsey word
Next, we headed to the Temporary Florist in the middle of the city near the famous Ben Thanh Market. This is an annual event for city folks to buy flower and place in their home for the lunar new year.

Sun flower fields in HCMC
Dragon Fruits as decoration
there are meaning to all these flowers and fruits as the decoration... i don't know what it meant to the Vietnamese thought. Maybe i could find out from my Vietnamese colleagues. :p

Not sure you still remember the Lunar New Year reunion dinner was also my birthday dinner... My sister bought this cake and celebrated my birthday in the afternoon. This Tiramutsu cake was brought from a 68 years old bakery shop. It was super yummy~

My Birthday Cake
My Lunar New years dinner always have it indoors, this year the Lunar New Year was a bit different as we were having Alfresco dinner. Yup,  we were having our dinner at 28 floors with the spectacular sunset...

View from the sun deck
TZ relax on portable hammock
We were having steamboat (hot pot) for reunion dinner. All the stuff has been prepared by sister and mom, my duty was setting up the place and transported those food from the kitchen to the sun deck.

SkyBar @ Traders Hotel

Yup! the bar is high up in the sky...

The famous and popular Skybar is located at 33th floors of Traders Hotel KLCC. The bar has become an icon or a must visit place when you are in  Kuala Lumpur.

SkyBar located at 33th floor of Trader Hotel. It started with a simple pool bar like other poolside bar in Kuala Lumpur. If you look into the picture below carefully, you would be able to see some people swimming in the pool. Once sundown... the Skybar will turn into a live bar with nice music and booze. Not to mention the spectacular view of Petronas Twin Tower as the backdrop of the bar which has made this place a very nice place to chill and hangout with friends after work or weekend.

Skybar - Traders Hotel KLCC
Last Monday (June 10th) was my friend's birthday. I was searching high and low for a nice place to celebrate my friend's birthday. Finally i figured out and brought her to this prestigious bar in Kuala Lumpur.  We order foods and drinks, sitting facing outside, waiting for the spectacular moment...

Skybar Bucket - Crispy seafood; Satay; Spicy Chicken Wings

Mojito x 2
Spectacular moment... what is the moment about?
If you get a nice seat by the windows you will get a splendid view of Petronas Twin Tower...

Sunset view
Sundown... Lights up
Completely lights up in dark
So the spectacular moment is that you got the chance to see the different snapshots of the Petronas Twin Tower as time passerby from sunset until the lights up completely as the sky getting darker and darker.

You might also wanna to turn around and look at the bar with the pool and it's surrounding area within the CBD of Kuala Lumpur.

Are you convince to pay a visit now?

My Birthday on Lunar Calendar...

I was born on the eight day of Chinese New Year... And for Hokkien, the eight day is a very important day. Yesterday was the 8th day of CNY. I woke up as early as 8am... And lazying on the bed until 9 something...

Since sister wanted to eat Bah Kut Teh (BKT). We decided to pay a visit to my cousin place in Shah Alam. My nephew brought us to the BKT @ bukit Raja Klang area. Near the i-city area.

The Kitchen - like a manufacturing
The Food
The BKT is nice but the service is extremely lousy... bad management, the staff doesn't even smile and very rude to their customers. So i would not recommend this place although the food is nice. BTW, the restaurant name is Teluk Pulai Bak Kut Teh...

After the BKT, we went to NSK a huge hypermarket (this will be another post - stay tune). Mom just bought a couple of vegetables and we left the place.

I gotta have another eating session at night after sending my parent to a Wedding Anniversary function @ Jaya 33. My sister, Bro-in-law and I met up my aunty for dinner. We pop over to the NEW PARIS. I bet whoever stay in klang valley should know this restaurant...

The Crowded Restaurant
So what we ate?

Lou Sang - Huat ar :p

Year Year Got Fish
This year we didn't celebrate the 8th days night event... So we picked up my parent from Jaya 33 and headed back home and sleep. That's my Lunar Calendar Birthday :)

Birthday Wishes from Social Media...

Technology has evolved to make people life so easy... it's so easy to send a birthday wishes to the birthday boy or girl nowadays. Thinking of a few decade ago. Either you give the person a call or go to the shop to purchase Birthday Card, write whatever you want, sent or hand deliver to the person.

Guess what?

Today, you don't need to buy the birthday card or call up the person to say Happy Birthday. With the social media apps and the improved technology... you can even say Happy Birthday from far far away. As far as the arctic. Hmmm... why i didn't get my Birthday Wish from Santa?

Since Jan 30th 2013 12:00am, i have been receiving tons of wishes from various social media (Facebook, LINE, Whatsapp, SMS etc), wishes from various part of the world. I will be surprise and so touch if i received a Birthday Card in my letter box.

Anyway, a special thanks to all my fellow friends and colleagues whom wished and celebrated my birthday... hehehe... i have few more sessions in next few days :)

Reflecting... Repackage... Relaunch...

I was chatting in FB with a friend of mine whom i haven't been meeting him quite sometime due to my busy traveling schedule.

Friend : ooo Birthday Boy!!
Me : Not yet...
Friend : How old will u be ar?
Me : 3x
Friend : wait a minute. U r almost the same age as me?

blah blah blah...

Friend : becoming age conscious are you?
Me : Nope
Friend : Age gracefully. Be thankful u live so long.

Then he started to tell me one incident which his friend die in a sudden cause heart attack. "So don't be negative be happy"

Think about it, i just have a few more hours to finish what i suppose to finish with my age now. I will carry a new age number few hours from now. Guess what? I will have a new launch of myself in a new packaging... A new me to move forward to achieve more and to be loved more.

People might see me whom have a successful career, a stable income, a going to "hot body", a good and enjoyable life. But deep inside me i feel like i have nothing. Maybe i have set myself too high expectation/goal.

First and foremost, i have to let go some of the burdens which hinder me to move forward, something which is deep inside me for so long... a less confident of me since i left a great company on 2008. I have went through up and down, experienced standing on the top of my life as well as down to the valley... but i still searching back the ME which would be able to self motivate and of cause pulled myself back up again. Today i don't see that ME again for past few years. It has to be put to STOP.

Let me use this few remaining hours to figure out how i should go...

Wei Bu Toong Seafood Restaurant

Last Sunday, July 1st 2012 was my dad's birthday. Since dad is a birthday boy on that day... Mom and I asking dad to choose what he likes to have for either dinner or lunch.

At the end, dad chosen Wei Bu Toong Seafood Restaurant located near Kepong area... initially i don't know how to get there but with the help of Google Maps. I managed to find the way and brought my dad to the restaurant.

Dad's ordered three dishes and two big rice to share out...

Seafood Tofu
Vietnamese Style Prawn

Last but not least, the main purpose we went to the restaurant... Overall, the crabs are quite okay, only one crab was slightly not fresh...

Steam Crab
So, it's time to start the guessing game... How much does it cost for the meal, three dishes, two rice and a pot of tea, What do you think?

Mom: Not sure, any suggestion?
Me: How about Shogun @ Solaris Mont Kiara? they give the birthday boy or girl free with three paying adult.
Mom: Then we need another person. *mom and dad are thinking who should they invite.
Me: So how?
Mom: Maybe we should change to Suki-ya @ Pavilion. Their lunch is nice... I went with your sister few months back. Your dad like Lamb and Beef shabu shabu too.
Me: Okay...

April 8th 2012 : TZ checked - in Suki-ya @ Pavilion yesterday noon for lunch.

The restaurant is situated inside Tokyo Street Pavilion. Their Shabu-Shabu is all you can eat... in another words you may eat all you can beef, chicken, and varieties of vegetable.

waiting for the soup to broil
trays of meat (lamb and beef)
It was a nice lunch as we gotten some valuable time together as a family. The service is superb and the environment is good too. If they have cooler aircon, there will be perfect. The hot pot sending out stream which making temperature of the restaurant in the high side. Outside the restaurant is even cooler... Anyway, nothing can complain as we were having Shabu shabu...

60-1217 : Happy Birthday Starbucks Malaysia

Starbucks a.k.a Starbie has turned 11 years old today.
Happy Birthday Starbie Malaysia
May all the Starbie oulet have good business eh~

Hehehe... everyone knows that i'm a great fans of Starbie... So far i have visited 60 outlets in Malaysia. I still have a lot more to cover as the Starbie is expanding their biz in Malaysia. More outlet is opening as days goes by ... :p

Okie~ Go back to Starbie's birthday... very sad to say i was not able to be part of the Starbie Birthday celebration. Why? This is because of my laziness to get up early today and headed to the nearest Starbie @ 11am. Yup~ All the Starbie outlet was giving out Fresh Brew coffee for free from 11am - 1pm. Hehehe... I only went to Starbie in the afternoon about 3pm. So no more Free coffee... Anyway, it's okay... I will place a big note in my Starbie Organizer and will hit one of the Starbie next year on Dec 17th 2010. Anyone can guess which Starbie I was in this afternoon?

My usual Ice Cafe Latte (Low Fat)

One of my friend even text me whether is there any further discount... Errrr.... No further discount for any drinks on its birthday day... only the usual 10% discount for J-card, HSBC credit card etc. Nothing much other than free coffee from 11am-1pm.

P/S, I marked the 60th visited outlet on last week @ Starbie SS15 - Subang Jaya... this outlet was so nice as it's was facing the two famous college in Subang i.e. Taylor and Inti. According to the Barista, it was quiet because of school holiday. Hmmm... I wondered how would the environment in a normal day? Extremely Noisy like night market?...

Happy Birthday Jerry

Birthday without a cake, birthday without a birthday song, birthday with a nice dinner @ Chili's Midvalley one week ago. Is there advance enough for a birthday get together? :p

hehehe... it's Jerry boy's 21st birthday which is NOT here yet. So please don't wish him Happy Belated Birthday eh~

Happy Advance Birthday Jerry

There's total 8 of us including Jerry has attended the advance birthday thrown in Chili's. It was a fun night in regardless of the incompetent service from Chili's, in fact it was a bad service as per said... As I had read about it from the forum in the internet... So expectation is being lowered. hehehee... i accepted all as per the fact other people have reviewed in the internet... :p

Anyway, in regardless of the service they provided. I was enjoying myself with the companies of my fellow bloggers friends. Just a nice night thanks to the organizer, Anton. He got us together to celebrate Jerry's advance birthday.

So anyone wanna to know what i have for dinner that night? hehehe... i had Southwest Grill Lamb... it was a very huge portion but at the end i finished my portion... :p

Hmmm... someone is getting the golden key in two days ... I would like to wish you a very happy 21st Birthday... hmmm... how i celebrated my golden key birthday? Oh... i wouldn't wanna to write about it here as it would be a long long story...

Happy Birthday Jerry
May all your wishes come true eh~

Birthday !!!

If you are a birthday boy or birthday girl... How you wanna to celebrate your birthday? A simple birthday dinner with a bunch of closer friends? A birthday party with expensive gifts and a dinner in expensive place? Invites lots of friends until you only able to say "Hello" to all your invitee... so what is your choice?

This friend of mine choose none of the above... but as a friend of his. I decided to organize a simple and invited a few closer friends of his to a simple dinner. I was not sure whether where is the more suitable place... so i got the suggestion from Twilight the famous YUEN buffet Steamboat @ Sunway.

Who is the birthday boy? hehehehe... Let sing a song to him first.

Happy Birthday to You.
Happy Birthday to You.
Happy Birthday to Anton.
Happy Birthday to You.

Ok... let me cut short the story and fast forward to Friday night... I actually gave my fellow friend Anton a surprise. I told him only four of us (Anton, Medie007, Jerry Kiat and I) gathered to have simple dinner @ Yuen. Later, Twilight, Michi and K|E|E|N|Y|E|E were there too... thanks for attending the gathering. Pikey and Leumao could not attend this gathering due to Friday night conference call with US and Leumao drove back to Penang...

The moment Anton walked in, he was surprised to see Twilight and K|E|E|N|Y|E|E was sitting there... Surprise! Anton... :p Anyway, Michi joined us later... We started our all you can eat steamboat.... It's a paradise of food with so many variety of food. hehehe... my favorite seafood too.

My favorite seafood platter... Yummy!

Yuen famous for its Teriyaki BBQ Chicken Wings, look at what twilight and Jerry holding @ their hand. They were so happy since they managed to grab lots of Chicken Wings after a fight with others. :p

Empty ice cream bowl... just guess how many bowls of ice cream we ate :p

hehehe... we sat there chatting, laughing, teasing each other, having fun from 7:30pm till 1am. We were the last table to leave the place. The food was nice but the companies even better. I hope Anton was enjoying himself as i was enjoying myself so much with the food and the companies.

So how you wanna to celebrate your birthday? ...
