Visitors from Singapore

Two friends of mine from Singapore were in Kuala Lumpur last weekend. They flown in on Friday evening. I went to airport to pick them up.

Day #1 - Airport --> Moon Bar --> Friends' place

Another mutual friend of us has arranged to meet us at the Moon Bar @ Damansara Height. There was a jazz night. This bar served pork... pork burgers, roasted pork with bacon and so on... Yum Yum~
The jazz was very nice until we lost track of time and stayed until 2am in the morning... Over night at my friends' condominium.

Day #2 - Imbi road Pork Noodles --> Brew & Bread Cafe --> Klang Bak Kut Teh --> Fish Spa Master --> Mcdonalds --> Pandamaran Seafood --> Bonjour Cafe --> Friends' place

We woke up at 9 something, got ready and went over to Kota Kemuning for Imbi Road Pork Noodles. Not sure what is good about this pork noodles until so many queue up for the table. Luckily, their preparation and serving are quite swiftly.

Brew and Bread is just behind the Imbi Road Pork Noodles house which it's a good choice for a nice cup of coffee especially they served illy brand coffee. We have ordered 2 pieces of cakes (carrot and chocolate walnut) for sharing... cakes goes well with coffee eh~

Singaporean claimed Bak Kut Teh started from Singapore. This has made all my Klang friends so pissed. Anyway, no one can change the fact that Bak Kut Teh is originated from Klang. Do you see the yummy Bak Kut swimming in inside a pot of herbal soup? Tsk Tsk Tsk... I'm having a crave for Bak Kut Teh now. :(

First ever experience to pamper my feet for a Fish Spa @ Aeon Bukit Tinggi. In the beginning, I was so reluctant to put my feet into the water. Maybe it's a sign of fear on what would happen to my feet. Slowly after i connected with the little fishes... I felt a bit comfortable and slowly i placed my feet into the water and stay still for the fishes to have their meal.

The whole process was so ticklish and i was trying not to laugh throughout the whole session. After the spa, we dropped by McDonald for ice cream while waiting for the other friend to arrive. She was joining us for dinner

Dinner was in one of the old and famous Seafood Restaurant @ Pandamaran Port Klang. Do you see the Crab Roe? i bet you are drooling right now. We also ordered couple more seafood. Anyway, it was a very enjoyable meal as the 5 of us whom spent the Overloaded Food weekend in Malacca 1 2 gathered again in Klang for Seafood. We left Klang back to Kota Damansara after dinner since the Tong Sui at Klang required to wait for at least an hour.

My friend suggested to pay a visit to the Bonjour Cafe @ Sunway Damansara. This cafe looks porch but the service was not up to where they tried to position themselves. I'm not sure whether the coffee is nice or not as i drank tea. We were saying No Booze Just Tea! night but we ended buying the Calsburg Special Brew and went back to my friend's place to drink :p

Day #3 Batu Cave --> Yut Kee --> KLCC park --> IMAX 3D @ 1U --> Airport

Early bird got the worm... Believe it or not? We got the worm... We don't need to pay for the carpark, we managed to see the prayer in the main temple up the cave and we managed to avoid buses of tourist to Batu Cave.

All three of my friends who never visited Batu Cave. This cave was new to them. Batu Cave has welcomed its tourist with a 273 steps for climbing to the main temple ;-) Guess what? we finished the whole cave within 1.5 hrs. I learn something new and witness the offering on 8:30am at the main temple up the cave.

Yut Kee has been in KL since 1928. This is a old nanyang style cafe which served Hainanese pork chop. They are famous for its pork chop. My Singaporean friend really amaze and like the taste of the pork chop. she never tasted this kind of pork chop which is different from the western pork chop.

We are requested by the owner to share the table with 2 others customers whom we don't know each other. This is a common practice in Yut Kee Restaurant. So don't be surprise you are being asked to share. Sharing is Caring eh~

You can captured the image of the Twin Tower from different corner of KL city but do you ever go at the bottom of the twin tower and look up? So how is the view like?...

I bought the visitors to KLCC park after our breakfast. We walked about an hour and heading back to my friend's place to freshen up and heading to One Utama for Pacific Rim in IMAX 3D.

After the movie, we sat down and chill before heading to the airport. That's all folks, till then stay tune for another venture of my coming weekend. This round no more valley but it will be an island *wink

On visiting Kanching Waterfall

One of my friend invited me to join his team of friends whom likes the outdoor. I'm not that much of an outdoor person especially jungle trekking with all the leeches. This round my friend told me there is no leeches and it's a very simple hike. Yay Yay~

Saturday morning, I drove over to my friend place, parked my car and hopped on to his car. We went for Dim Sum brekkie @ Selayang before heading over to Kanching Waterfall.

Where is Kanching Waterfall? Kanching Waterfall located near Templar park. It's a natural reserve park between Templar and Rawang. The waterfall has divided into multiple levels. The well maintained levels are from level 1~4. I managed to go up to level 5 which unfortunately was not even maintained... the gazebo near the level 5 waterfall has collapsed.

We decided to stayed in Level 4 which is we could have the whole waterfall by ourselves.

Level 2
After spending 2 hours plus sitting by the waterfall since i didn't want to swim. We ended our outing with a fishy lunch at Lan Je. Order 3 type of African fish (the black one) dishes. The same type of African fish that i had in Uganda Africa. But the fish texture was not as good as in Uganda as it was sweet and chewy over there but not in Lan Je. Rare vs Wild...

Food Overloaded... #Malacca - Part 2

Continue from Food Overloaded... #Malacca - Part 1
The food hunting continues...

Breakfast @ Bamboo Hut. Our hotel room included the BIG Breakfast... not the McDonald's big breakfast although they have the same name. But the breakfast @ Bamboo Hut is much more healthier than McD.

Did you see the two LOVELY sunny side up?

We not even walked 300m after our breakfast earlier. We stopped for another round of meal in between. Can we call snack?

We were lining up for the famous @Chung Wah Chicken Rice Ball... luckily the queue was not long and we waited 15 mins to get to our turn.

How many balls you can eat?

What next? If you happen to go to Malacca, i bet you will not want to miss this shop especially its product. One of my KL friend asking us to bring back a slide of Mille Crepe. I bet by now you should be able to figure out what am i talking about. Yes!!! It's @Nadeja Cafe.

What so great about Nadeja's Mille Crepe?

After Nadeja, we felt a bit hungry and craving food but not cakes. We headed over to the @Ming Satay Hut for a round of pork satay before leaving Malacca...

Can you calculate... how many sticks?
The Ming pork satay has marked the end of our Malacca getaway. We finished the pork satay and headed back home...

What type of food is your favorite when you pay a visit to Malacca?

BKT Sunday

One of the tasty food that you wouldn't want to miss when you are in Klang... What food is that? Of cause everyone know it's Bak Kut Teh (Stew Pork in herbs).

I got a chance to taste this famous BKT last Sunday. This shop has been there for 70 years and still very popular in Klang old town...it is the first BKT in Malaysia.

Before the BKT session, My friends and I paid a visit to the Klang Run for it event as the photographer and cheering another friend of mine who was running... I bet you have read his post regarding the run eh~ Anyway, after he started to run. We also run to the BKT place beside the bridge near the Klang train station.

Fun For it - Klang

Because we were early, the BKT was still cooking so we waited for 30 mins until 7:30am to get our first bowl of BKT. The wait was kind of torturing with the nice smell from the cooking of BKT... But anyway, it was a nice chatting to catch up with friends too while sipping the tea. What a nice relaxing Sunday...

So, are you craving for yummilicious BKT now? I bet the answer is YES. Anyway, I was having too much pork last weekend in Klang and Banting. That bring me to workout hard in Gym for the rest of the week to stay inline with my goal to achieve 6 packs. LoL...

I Love Yoo! Where tradition meets modern...

My friend and I went to Empire Gallery for gym after the 10-10-10 fun run (coming up next post). We were hungry and looking for a place for our breakfast. Since we were early in Empire Gallery, I suggested to taste the "Yau Jar Qui" in I Love Yoo!... Why? Cause everytime we want to taste, there is a long queue. It has triggered my curiosity of how tasty is the food that make people line up for it.

Yau Char Qui with Soya

Yau Char Qui

I Love Yoo!

Anyway, I was a bit disappointed because it was not as tasty as i expected. And the amount of people lining up to grab this food is really kind of over-rated. Luckily the food was not that expensive as for a "yau char qui with Soya" cost about RM3.90. I yet to try the porridge... maybe the porridge with Yau Char Qui is nicer...

Cari Makan @ Penang : Tho Yuen Restaurant

I managed to visit the so call nicest Chicken Rice in downtown Penang according to one of the PenangKia on my last two trip to Penang. We were discussing food in Penang during our last Blogger Gathering @ Yuen two weeks back... we came across this is a nice and old restaurant located @ Campbell Street. Anyone went to this restaurant before?

chicken Rice stall in front of the shop

The rice

The chicken

The restaurant not only selling chicken rice, they also sells dim sum... not sure it is one of the best or not ... I personally was not impressed with the dim sum. It's just okay only.

Siew Mai

Har Kow (Prawn Dumpling)

Traditional card system

How the traditional card system work? The dim sum order will be recorded in the card according to price... when you paid, the cashier will calculate base on how many plate that you have in that category. Some Dim Sum place still maintain this card system...

Hey guess what? My aunt told me they actually not very popular with their chicken rice and Dim Sum. Errrr... so, what actually they are famous for? hehehe... They are actually famous for their Char Tua Ban (Char Keow Teoy with the broader noodles). I'm yet to try out their popular dish...

Anyone tried their Char Tua Ban? Is it good?

Cari Makan @ Penang : Ching Ying Coffee Shop

I was away from KL and spent my weekend @ Penang.

I woke up @ 6:30am and got ready to go marketing with my parents and my uncle... My uncle drove us to the wet market @ Sungai Ara. This market was full of people... I'm not a wet market goer, I only wanna to eat the nice Hokkien Mee.

After my uncle finished ordering his favorite fishes and enough of the fishy smell... We headed to a nearby coffee shop for our breakfast... The coffee shop has the most popular Hokkien Mee in the neighborhood...

The row of shop just besides the New Sungai Ara Market

Yummy Hokkien Mee

Hokkien Mee (closeup)

Almost 80% of the customers were ordering this Hokkien Mee @ Ching Ying Coffee Shop. If you happened to be near Sungai Ara Market... Go and give it a try.

P/S : This is definitely NOT near KOMTAR... you will NOT able to see KOMTAR from this area. :p

Cari Makan @ Penang : Zim Sum Tea Garden

This happened on the day before my friend and I left Penang. We checked out the hotel and discussing what we would like to have for brunch. Since i knew one popular place for dim sum @ Anson road, no far from the hotel... We decided to drop by that place. This was the first time i had dim sum in cafeteria style...

hmmmm... no dim sum tray cruising around the restaurant with some sweet lady voice... "Char Siew Pau, Siew Mai, Har kow, Lo mai kai... " So, you must be thinking it should be much more quiet eh~... You are totally wrong, the place really like a market... People walking and carrying tray to their destination table from the dispenser counter. My friend has offered to get us some food... so i was sitting @ the table alone observing the environment...

Minutes later, my friend came back with a tray of food...

Har Kow

Siew Mai

Yu Kot

Tofu mai

After we finished the first round... it's my turn to get the 2nd round... I went and shop @ each of the dispenser counters to search for my favorite dim sum "Har Kow"... the lady on the counter told me to wait for 15 mins ... so i have no choice but to go around other counters to grab more food... like Egg Tarts ( @Twilight: this egg tarts even way way better than Paparich ), porridge and more siew mai... then went back after 15 mins to collect the "Har Kow"... I took two instead of one.

We finished all the food within 1/2 hours, paid and left the place for Kuala Lumpur... Anyway, the food is quite okie as per said but the price is KL price :(... so it's not really value for money in this environment.

BTW, I never tried other dim sum place in Penang other than Corner Club, Shangri-la and Cititel (yaya, i know what you wanna to say... TZ go to high class dim sum place... errrr, my aunty brought me there)... So, I don't think i could compare this dim sum place with the other three. if any of you have better recommendation... do share with us eh~

OldTown White Coffee

I woke up early this morning ... got myself ready to follow my dad out to pick up my car from the Car Hospital. Hope that the doctor could discharge my car in the morning... So i could hit the gym in the afternoon. As Manglish dude mentioned, "Car... Gym.... Car... Gym... etc". Please don't ask me what he mean, I was blur too... Just forget about it... :p

Since i catched my Dad's taxi out early in the morning, i have to find a place to get online... all the cafe with Wifi in the surrounding was still closed... I have no choice to walk my heavy leg into the Oldtown White Coffee. NO CHOICE...

Getting inside the cafe without ordering was very bad... so i have no choice to order something. Surfing through their menu... I came across a RM4.50++ breakfast set #1 (Two eggs, One piece of Kaya/Butter bread, One Oldtown White Coffee)... As i wanna to upgrade to ice coffee... it cost me another RM1.00++ just for the ice and sugar. Was not very happy and keen about, i updated my FB

TZ is waiting for his car to be ready... sipping sugar water @ Oldtown Cafe. No other choice since he wanna a Wifi connection... :(

A friend of mine actually asking what do i mean sugar water? Let me show you...

hehehe... this is what i meant sugar water. Their coffee was getting worst. I request for less sugar but they just ignored my request... sigh~ sigh~ sigh~ For the amount that we paid for the coffee, the quality is not there and the amount of coffee is getting smaller and smaller. BTW, the bread was prepared upfront, it was harden, kaya/butter was not melted into the bread... I was so disappointed with their food too. I really missed the toast @ Chong Kok kopitiam, Klang.

Talk about the environment, Oldtown cafe no way can compare to Starbie. No smell of coffee... music is loud, kids running wild with unbearable noise, burning toast and worst with BO staff... Unlike, Starbie, nice coffee smell, morning greet by the staff, soft music... What a nice kick to start the day...

So what would your choice?

A visit to Ban San...

What/Where is Ban San? Ban San is a place that u could get vegetables, seafood, poultry... basically it's anything that you need for your day to day life. So where is this Ban San? hehehe.... "Ban San" in Penang means wet market. Errrrrr.... guess what? for my past years i think i could use 10 fingers to calculate the visit to the wet market... a place that is forbidden for TZ.... TZ don't like the place as the place is so dirty and full of smelly water on the ground... people just squeezed through without even saying excuse me... :(

My friends has teased me on Saturday morning as i texted him saying that i was on my way to Ban San (Wet Market in Penang)... He just teased me that i would just stand outside the Ban San or just waited for my uncle to finish his marketing in the car.... yaya! you were WRONG! i stepped into the Ban San... *Hiak Hiak*

Our first stop! The sundry shop .... Please don't underestimate the small little sundry shop... which carries lots of different products... Do you see any Canned food that you would buy from Tesco, Carrefour in this sundry shop... :p

Sundry shop inside Ban San

Fish! fish! fish! where are you? This fish monger's place was my uncle target... He bought all his fish supply from this stall...

This is a close shot of a type of fish (please don't ask me the name as i don't know the name... blek!)

Three fishes whom greet you in the morning

Fruits ... how could we left out the fruits store ... colorful and lots of variety of fruits ... did you see any fruits imported from China or Thailand ???

Pears and Lychee! :)

As i mentioned earlier, i'm not a kind of person that like to visit Ban San... but this Ban San has a things that attracted me... so what was the item in Ban San has attracted me ... do any one of you know ? hehehehe... it's food... of coz what else you talked about in Penang ... Yup! Food... The famous Penang Prawn Mee so called "Hokkien Mee"... Yum Yum...

My breakfast - Hokkien Mee (Prawn Noodles)

Last but not least... as i practiced to take some portrait shot. I just happened to take this dude whom came to Ban San with his mom... How i know? I just overheard her mom said that he just came back for vacation. How's my portrait shot anyway?
